Drive Electric Rochester Sponsor Spotlight: City of Rochester / Sustainable Rochester It's Climate Week! Did you know Rochester is a Climate Smart Community? NYSERDA recognized Rochester for completing four high-impact clean energy actions: expanding clean fleets and Electric Vehicle charging stations; installing LED street lights; adoption of the New York State Unified Solar Permit to streamline approvals for local solar projects; and implementing a community-based solarization campaign to provide public education and outreach. The City also has 38 charging ports installed in City-owned parking lots and garages to accelerate the implementation of electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) charging stations throughout the city and to promote the adoption of EVs and PHEVs by the public! Fleet electrification has been found to have a substantial benefit to public health! Research conducted in New York has found that the electrification of fleets has resulted in a significant reduction of emissions, resulting in a healthier population.
