Raising awareness for men's mental health all year round not just in June. Men face unique challenges in mental health, often contending with societal pressures to remain strong and stoic. These expectations can lead to feelings of isolation and hesitation to seek help when needed. However, mental health issues affect everyone, regardless of gender. It's crucial for men to understand that it's okay to not be okay and to reach out for support when they need it. This month, let's focus on educating ourselves and others about men's mental health and work towards breaking the stigma surrounding it. We can support the men in our lives by checking in on them and encouraging open, honest conversations about their mental well-being. Together, we can create a safe and supportive environment where men feel empowered to prioritize their mental health. Remember its okey not to be okey #Mensmentalhealthawareness #itsokeynottobeokey

May is National Mental Health Month 💚 Men and women both experience mental health struggles, but men’s willingness to reach out for support can be discouraged by social stigmas, perceived standards of masculinity or fatherhood, and an overall lack of support circles. Approximately one million Canadian men suffer from major depression every year; 75% of successful Canadian suicides are men (Canadian Mental Health Association). What can we do? ~ Be a support person. ~ Speak out against men's mental health stigma. ~ Connect to & learn more from men’s mental health organizations. ~ Take care of your mental health! To our Fathers, Brothers, Sons, Cousins, and Friends: Give yourself kindness. You deserve it. #endthestigma #mensmentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #hereforyou #mentalhealthmonth #truenorth #truenorthab #truenorthsociety #healthyindividuals #healthyrelationships #healthycommunities

Mental health matters, especially in communities of color. For too long, stigma and cultural barriers have silenced conversations about mental well-being in communities of color. But the truth is, mental health affects us all, regardless of race or ethnicity. As we strive for equality and justice, let's also prioritize mental health support and resources for people of color. Let's create safe spaces where individuals can seek help without fear of judgment or shame. It's okay not to be okay. Let's break the silence, challenge stigma, and support each other in our mental health journeys. Together, we can heal and thrive. Remember, you are not alone. Your mental health matters, and you deserve support and care. 💚 We have included a link below for anyone seeking mental health resources for BIPOC, the link is also in our bio. #mentalhealth #blackmentalhealthmatters #ywcanca #ywca https://bit.ly/3RLprpD

Wishing you all the best on World mental health day. I would urge us all to use this opportunity to check in on ourselves. We have all gone through a pretty chaotic few years. You are only human if that gets in on you. It certainly has on me. But also to ask ourselves what kind of society do we want to be part of. Is it one where we take care of our most vulnerable? If so, we must move past awareness days and push for better systems of support for those that need it, and also a society that doesn’t solely focus on economic metrics as an indicator of how well a country is. Mental health is political, it has to be. But it doesn’t have to be a space of conflict. It can be a space of collective and empathetic leadership by all of us. I for one want to be part of it. #worldmentalhealthday

Happy Wednesday and welcome to May! As we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, it's important to understand that mental health challenges can impact individuals at any stage of life. Older adults, in particular, are often more vulnerable to depression and other mental illnesses. Various factors, such as physical illness, loneliness, and difficult lifestyle changes, can contribute to declining mental health. It's crucial to be aware that for older adults, depression can sometimes be mistaken for dementia due to overlapping symptoms like forgetfulness and disorientation. Fortunately, with the support of loved ones and caregivers, older adults can access the resources needed to navigate even the most challenging situations. Let's raise awareness and support one another in prioritizing mental health this month and beyond. #MentalHealthAwareness #RecognizeTheSigns

Mental health is a global concern. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one in four people will be affected by mental or neurological disorders at some point in their lives. Depression alone is the leading cause of disability worldwide. Yet, despite these alarming statistics, there is still a significant lack of awareness and understanding surrounding mental health issues. One of the biggest obstacles to mental health awareness is the stigma associated with it. People often hesitate to talk about their mental health problems due to fear of judgment or discrimination. This stigma can prevent individuals from seeking help when they need it the most, exacerbating their conditions. World Mental Health Day aims to break this stigma by fostering open and non-judgmental conversations about mental health. It encourages individuals to share their experiences, providing comfort to those who may be struggling in silence. By sharing stories of resilience and recovery, we can show that mental health issues are not a sign of weakness but a common part of the human experience. #worldmentalhealth #worldmentalhealthday #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #meditation #itsokaynottobeokay

As we continue to break down the stigma surrounding mental health, it’s more important than ever to advocate for those who may be struggling. Mental health affects us all, whether directly or indirectly, and it’s crucial that we prioritize our well-being just as much as our physical health. Advocating for mental health means promoting awareness, understanding, and acceptance. It means standing up for those who may feel silenced or ashamed of their struggles. It means encouraging conversations and seeking help when needed. No one should ever feel alone in their battle with mental health challenges. By advocating for mental health, we are not only supporting others but also creating a more compassionate and empathetic society. We are breaking down barriers and stereotypes, and creating a safe space for everyone to openly discuss their struggles without fear of judgment. So let’s all commit to advocating for mental health, in our communities, workplaces, and beyond. Let’s prioritize self-care, seek help when needed, and support those around us who may be struggling. Together, we can make a difference and create a world where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health. #MentalHealthMatters #EndTheStigma #AdvocateForMentalHealth
