A champion in Formula 3, A champion in Formula 2, Oscar Piastri winning for the first time in Formula 1! But it wasn’t that simple. His teammate Lando Norris had to give Oscar the win. On the second last lap of the race. As the McLaren team ordered Lando to back off. And let Oscar win. In most sports, your teammate is your ally. But in Formula 1, your teammate is your biggest rival. Because your teammate has got almost the same car, Same resources, And the same opportunities. So they are both competing with equal resources. Then why did Lando Norris still let Oscar Piastri win yesterday? Here are 3 reasons why: 1. Strategic Risk Management The team had to switch positions earlier To avoid complications, And ensure a smoother race for both drivers. To minimize the risk of losing positions in the race 2. Showcasing teamwork Even though Lando was the quicker driver, He had to help Oscar to showcase teamwork, And give Oscar credit for a strong start to the race. 3. Returning Oscar a favor Oscar being the junior driver in the team has always Lando wherever he could, So it only made sense for Lando to give Oscar the credit, And let him win the race. Every driver in  Formula 1 is selfish of the circuit, But showcasing such sportsmanship is a testament to teamwork, respect, and strategic thinking. Just like in business, Where individual accomplishments are crucial, The success of the organization depends on collaboration, fairness, and aligning personal goals with the team’s objectives. These principles not only lead to victories on the track But also drive long-term success in the corporate world.

Formula 1 team valuations have exploded over recent years. The best teams (Ferrari, Mercedes, and Red Bull) are now worth $2 billion to $3 billion each, while even the worst teams (Williams and Haas) are now approaching $1 billion valuations. F1 Team Valuations (2023) 1. Ferrari: $3.13 billion 2. Mercedes: $2.7 billion 3. Red Bull: $2.42 billion 4. McLaren: $1.56 billion 5. Aston Martin: $1.14 billion 6. Alpine: $1.08 billion 7. Visa Cash App Red Bull: $905 million 8. Kick Sauber: $815 million 9. Williams: $800 million 10. Haas: $710 million Many people say this is because... • Drive to survive has attracted millions of fans • New races in Miami and Las Vegas are super lucrative • More revenue at the parent company is flowing down to the teams This all plays a part, but the real reason is the cost cap. Previously, the best Formula 1 teams operated on uncapped budgets, spending upwards of $400 million annually to build the best car. But now that Liberty Media has introduced the cost cap, Formula 1 teams can only spend up to $135 million annually (excluding driver salaries). This has transitioned Formula 1 to a more sustainable model that mirrors what we see in American sports leagues like the NFL and NBA. And with annual revenues continuing to grow through bigger media rights deals and larger sponsorship contracts, the ability to forecast fixed annual expenses has turbocharged Formula 1 team valuations. In the 1950s, Formula 1 pit stops were a completely different game. It took almost 67 seconds – more than a minute that felt like an eternity compared to today's numbers. Compare above number to Red Bull's F1 team pit stop performance during the 2013 USA Grand Prix. They changed all four tires in a jaw-dropping 1.92 seconds! Under 2 second!!! Formula 1 is not just a race for the fastest cars; it's about pursuit of technological dominance and efficient business processes. It's all about meticulous planning – a strict no-multitasking policy, where every team member focuses on one task.
