Both licenses contain evidence- based assessment instruments developed and validated through the BCAT® Research Center. Both BCAT® Test System License options include the following: • On-demand training in the six unique assessment instruments • Access to the Brief Cognitive Assessment Tool (BCAT®), a multifactorial assessment that is sensitive to the full spectrum of cognitive functioning (normal, MCI, dementia), • A digitial patient level report that provides Memory Factor, Executive Functions Factor, and Complex Attention factor scores to inform the plan of care These tools offer predictive results related to basic and instrumental ADL performance, help predict discharge dispositions, identify those most likely to be readmitted to hospitals shortly after discharge, facilitate level of care determinations, and aid in fall prevention programs. Today, I am so very excited and honoured to share the news that my dear friend/colleague, Dave Walton and I (with support from, and many thanks to, MedBridge), have launched two courses on #TraumaInformedCare. The concept to reality pathway of these courses was the result of a radically interdisciplinary and international collaboration -- involving our colleagues across healthcare, justice, trauma, indigenous knowledges, disability, systems thinking, and lived experience. We aim to provide a novel evaluation of trauma informed healthcare along with guidance for second-order change in the equity dynamics in #evidencebasedpractice by adapting a trauma assumed care model. We believe these resources will help to create a wholesale shift in the traditional power hierarchies of the clinical encounter, moving from the valorised 'all-knowing, all-powerful clinician' to celebration of the humble, compassionate, and authentically curious clinician, devoted to combining the spheres of expertise of the clinician and of the person seeking care. Ahead of its Scientific Breakthrough Summit this week, C-Path's International Neonatal Consortium (INC) and the Institute for Advanced Clinical Trials for Children (I-ACT for Children) are thrilled to announce a significant expansion of neonatal data in their Real-World Data (RWD) Project, thanks to new collaborative efforts. With the recent acquisition of five new datasets, the total number of datasets now stands at 28, marking a noteworthy expansion and strengthening the scope of the project to encompass RWD derived from approximately 386,000 neonates worldwide, encompassing clinical trials, registries, and electronic health records. These additional datasets have been generously contributed by esteemed partners, including Yale University School of Medicine, Prentice, Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, University of Minnesota and University of Utah, all of whom have joined forces with INC to advance the understanding of neonatal disease progression and clinical outcomes. As we witness the resilience of those living with ALS, we're also reminded of the immense challenges they face on a daily basis. The search for a breakthrough therapy is fueled by a shared commitment – researchers, healthcare professionals, advocates, and the community coming together to pave the way for a brighter future. It's a journey that demands rigorous scientific exploration, innovative approaches, and collaborative efforts. Amidst this journey, let's remember the power of raising awareness, championing research, and supporting organizations devoted to ALS research and patient care. Each stride we take brings us closer and faster towards a therapy that can offer relief, enhance the quality of life, and inspire new possibilities for those affected by ALS. Here's a thought experiment - What defines an MS expert? One response is that it's an individual with many years of research and clinical expertise. Indeed this is one way to consider MS expertise. There is another way to look at MS expertise - through the lived experience of people with MS. Viewing expertise through this lens means that there are nearly 3 million MS experts worldwide. People with MS must be engaged to bring their unique perspectives and expertise to inform our drive to cure MS. During last year's ECTRIMS MSMilan 2023 Congress we saw a great example of what this engagement can look like. The ECTRIMS Patient Community Day brought together people with MS, NMOSD, and other demyelinating diseases, researchers, and patient organization leaders for conversations about progress, challenges, and opportunities for impact. In this ECTRIMS podcast, National MS Society leadership volunteer Bonnie L. Higgins and I joined Brett Drummond on the ECTRIMS podcast for a conversation about the ECTRIMS Patient Community Day. We shared our thoughts as a person living with MS (Bonnie) and a patient organization leader (Tim) on the importance of creating these opportunities for collaboration between patients, researchers, and organizations.
