The AP Stylebook, a writing and editing reference for newsrooms, classrooms, and corporate offices, recently adopted a people-first language approach to obesity. What does that mean? They recommend using the phrase "person with obesity" instead of using the term "obese" as an adjective to describe a person. This may seem like a small change, but it's a huge step forward in reducing bias and stigma by framing obesity as a disease. Form Health is committed to using people-first language and providing nonjudgmental treatment for all patients with obesity. Is your organization looking for a partner to deliver impactful and cost-effective obesity treatment? Form Health can help. Get in touch at [email protected].

How do you design with people when there are limited resources? In a new article, we propose a preliminary model of selective participatory activities and report a case study in designing for social connections of older adults. Engaging stakeholders in all activities of the design process is ideal, but in resource-limited projects typical in health, selecting some core activities for participation could support both stakeholder agency and project viability. Experts must adjust and balance influence in different activities to achieve meaningful participation of all stakeholders. It was great to collaborate with Aaron Guest, Wenqi Winnie Zheng, Allie Peckham, MSW, PhD, Yumeng X., Qijia (Euca) You, and Brad Doebbeling and co-author this article. Attention capitalism prioritizes platform growth, often at the expense of societal well-being. Current interventions, primarily content moderation, are insufficient for addressing broader harms like mental health and social trust. In this white paper, Nathaniel Lubin and Thomas Krendl Gilbert, research contributors at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, propose an accountability infrastructure, drawing from public health concepts, offering a mechanism design framework applicable to both industry self-regulation and government intervention. #designframework #contentmoderation #attentioncapitalism #socialtrust

[Activity Analysis] The "PATIENT ENGAGEMENT" Project I am collecting some articles, papers, books, videos, and personal notes about Healthcare Experience Design. Some new ideas and insights will be published under a category called "Patient Engagement": https://lnkd.in/gMYeGhTM In general, I see Design as an activity. At this level, we focus on new models of design activities. For example, the attached paper introduces "Selective Participatory Activities". In particular, we pay attention to concrete case studies of healthcare research, design, and development. For example, the attached paper is based on a case study about social isolation and older adults. If you are interested in this project, DM if you want to share your stories or resources. #patientengagement (9/25/2023)

Association between Health Literacy and Physical Activity among Older People https://lnkd.in/dK_-kk7u We aim to discuss how aging impacts physical activity, including changes in age-related physiological and health variables. It is crucial to highlight the health benefits of regular participation in physical activities, such as improved strength, better balance, reduced risk of chronic diseases, enhanced mental health, and increased longevity.

Responding to the science is critical.
APA is calling on social media companies and policymakers to take responsibility to protect youth. Our new report follows up 2023's health advisory by focusing on design features and platform functions that may be inherently unsafe for developing brains. Innovative Educationalist | Performance Coach for Mindbody Health, Mindbody Edge & Confidence | Performer-Presenter | Researcher-Author
My 2021 International Conference Presentation is vitally relevant today for bringing together the 'external' environmental stressors and 'internal' stressors of importance and managing them all with Resilience. You could be surprised by at least some of this up-to-date research connected to my past academic research and books. I also introduce the still innovative topic, 'the highly sensitive person' (HSPs = 20% of population) with high sensory perception and other positive attributes found in many creative and performing artists past and present. #emfstress #emfprotection #mindbodyhealth #mindbodyconnections #nutritionforperformance #mindbodystrategies #hsp

Very insightful link to health 1.0 Futureof.org Discussions about health politics and health economics as well as other facts of the future of health discussed
I’m proud to be the Executive Editor and one of writers of an important and informative report being released this week about the Future of Health. It covers where we are in the present and where we may end up in possible futures in cancer, brain health, longevity, wellness, the patient experience, health economics, bionics, the impact of climate change and politics on human health, and more. I’ll be posting bits and pieces of the project over the next few days. The project was sponsored by the Jacobs School of Medicine at SUNY Buffalo, and funded by the philanthropist Jeremy Jacobs - Attention Span Media did the work, led by my longtime friend and ace journalist Josh McHugh, the editor in chief of the report and the CEO of Attnspan - he and his team assembled an astonishing brain trust of writers, researchers, experts, designers, and artists to create a book and a digital version of the report that’s . The study’s defining question is: “Will we seize the opportunities presented by the emerging technologies of today and tomorrow to reengineer our health system with compassion, common sense, and ethical clarity?” Also thanks to Ethan Watters, Alba Muñoz Saiz, Garrett Law, Larry Habegger, Tyson Law, Shawn Robertson, Andrew Hessel, Laura Fraser, Jenny Qi, PhD , Rebecca Ferrini , Jonathan D. Sonis, MD, MHCM, Joshua Spanogle, Danny Fortson Tami Luchow , Dominique Saint Malo , Natalie Jones, Patrick House, Kenneth Trauner MD, Ethan Fletcher, Elijah Molenkamp and Peter White.
