Indian energy deeptech companies have a unique opportunity to lay the market rules and dominate global ecosystem thru applied science, it’s engineering and unbeatable unit economics, as geo-politics is in their favor today. Battery chemistry like LTO solve for safety, charge time, and battery life … “But” at 4x upfront cost and 2x weight penalty … makes it impractical. Globally, large organizations and startups both are trying to solve under 15-minutes charging challenge for LFP & NMC within conventional and established safety standards. Polestar will pilot and demonstrate a super high-speed battery charging technology — capable of adding 100 miles of range in just five minutes — in a prototype Polestar 5 performance sedan next year. Israeli startup StoreDot is developing what it calls "extreme fast charging" technology. StoreDot seeks to mass-produce batteries that can achieve that range with five minutes of charging by 2024, followed by technology that can hit that figure in three minutes by 2028 and just two minutes by 2032. The startup uses battery chemistry that differs from that used by many competitors. StoreDot says it replaces traditional lithium-ion graphite anodes with silicon synthesized with proprietary compounds. The result is faster charging times. https://lnkd.in/gAdNtfAg
