"As a little person I recall always staying away from peanuts. Initially the smell would irritate my throat and as I got older the symptoms progressed into a full allergic reaction. I few years ago I had a series of reactions that required emergency medical intervention. I was at my breaking point and decided to have an allergy test done. The test revealed I had a peanut, crab, shrimp and, pet allergy. Im what you would consider a “Foodie” so when I started a food blog centered around eating tips, food safety because my inspiration. The challenges of having severe food allergies can feel crippling at times. You ask a lot of questions while dining out. You don’t want to be the person who gives the restaurant a hard time, but you have to know what’s in the food. You can never just grab your keys and walk out the door. You will need you remember your Epipen. You may ask yourself often “why me”!!! But you accept this is your life and surround yourself with people that don’t mind sacrificing a few items on the menu to keep you safe." -Chanel Britt Submit your story for a chance to be featured on an upcoming #FARESundayStory: https://bit.ly/3WNio3g

People with allergies do not give restaurants a hard time. Unfortunately, restaurants sometimes give those with allergies a hard time. Thank you, Chanel, for sharing your story. Everyone in hospitality should be continually learning how better to serve all customers, including those with allergies.
