Here's what's on James Neighbors 's bookshelf! 📚 The End of the World Is Just the Beginning - Mapping the Collapse of Globalization (what a mouthful!) Jim does acknowledge that it's a bit of a grim one, but he also finds it to be insightful and illuminating. From the title, you might think it would only touch on the economics of globalization, which it does, but it also explores the effects of a rapidly declining global population. The author weaves these themes together to portray a wildly different future; a future that will unwind the glory days of international trade and commerce as it's been enjoyed for the last half decade or so. He shows how this breakdown is already occurring by digging into current events such as piracy attacks on cargo routes and Putin's lust for land (which might be a cover for an even darker motive) Though this might not be your cozy new bedtime read, Jim recommends it as a "Great read". Have you read it? If so, what are your thoughts? What's on your bookshelf that we should all read next? 📢 My book, titled "Contender States and Modern Chinese International Thought," is out! 📚 I argue that China's structural position within the global order since 1912 is crucial for understanding the dynamics behind the production of Chinese international thought. For those interested in the book, I would like to clarify that it seeks to theoretically intervene in the debates on Global IR and Non-Western IR theory. It aims to provide a non-culturalist and 'international' understanding of how knowledge is produced in China. You can check the table of contents and find more information about the book here: https://lnkd.in/dDiG4Gpt

Excellent article by Phaedros Pantelides - worth reading. Reminds me of references in the book about the Fourth Turning by Strauss and Howe. Great writing and insights.
