In today's Impact Hub Zürich newsletter, we're sharing three exciting opportunities on how to engage in #climateaction that I want to share here as well: 🗳️ Exercise Your Right to Vote in Switzerland Democracy is a powerful tool for shaping the future, and it's time to make your voice heard. We encourage you to participate in the upcoming elections. Your vote is an essential part of the decision-making process, and it's how you can help shape the future you want to see. You don’t know how? Tear off your party of choice (I recommend Grüne Schweiz or SP Schweiz for climate action and diversity) and put it in the envelope (doesn't take more than 1 minute) or use smartvote.ch to find your preferred politicians. Tomorrow is the last day to vote via postal way. 🚀 Join Our Circular Economy Incubator Are you passionate about driving change and innovation in the transition to a circular economy? Our CE Transition – Circular Economy Transition Incubator is the perfect opportunity for you. This 12-week program empowers teams and startups to prototype and develop solutions that will accelerate the transition to a circular economy in Switzerland. Additionally, you'll become part of a like-minded community, where you'll have the opportunity to connect with others and tap into our extensive network. If you have an idea and are ready to roll up your sleeves and create meaningful change, this is your chance. The applications are open until October 29th, so don't miss this incredible opportunity and apply here: https://lnkd.in/eA4Jz83v 💡 Festival of Ideas: Climathon Zurich Our commitment to the climate doesn't stop at projects and initiatives. We believe in fostering a culture of continuous learning and idea-sharing. That's why we invite you to the upcoming Festival of Ideas at Climathon Zurich. It's a gathering of like-minded individuals, innovators, and change-makers, where we hear the pitch presentations for the ideas developed during the previous 24 hours at Climathon. Inaugural Sustainovate Event Communique| B.Corp Gihan Hyde Key Takeaways: 🌍 Affordability: Sustainability isn’t just for the eco-elite. Let’s democratize sustainability to make the green shift universally accessible! Especially in light of the cost-of-living crisis.💸🌱 🔍 Regulatory Realities: Regulations our unsung heroes. They are driving sustainable action. But we need to avoid turning sustainability into a legal Rubik's Cube lest we face inaction due to confusion and misunderstanding. Unintentional green washing shouldn’t result in lawsuits.🤯🔐 📈 SME Sustainability Strategy: We need to empower SMEs so they can make the same sustainability transitions major players can afford. Budget, knowledge and technology shouldn’t be the reason they can’t play their part. 🔄🔍 🌐 Local Resonance: Local efforts are the heart and soul of sustainability. People resonate more with sustainability efforts that directly impact their local communities. When building sustainable initiatives, remember to recognise the resonance of actions on home soil. 🏡🔄 💼 CEO Tightropes: CEOs are increasingly walking the tightrope of profits and planet. Let's steer clear of transforming sustainability from a sincere and heartfelt endeavor into a mere checkbox exercise. 🌐🎭 Collaboration, clarity, and support are the pillars of a sustainable future. Next Steps Summary: 🌍 Make sustainable choices affordable for all. 🔍Clarify what regulations mean in terms of what sustainability actions businesses should take. 📈Empower SMEs to make sustainable transitions through financial aid, training and technology. 🌐Recognize that sustainability efforts that impact locally resonate more with people. 💼Prioritize making your company sustainable long-term to avoid alienating top talent. Thank you so much for attending our inaugural Sustainovate Roundtable: Lana Tahirly Abdullayeva Ravelle Leacock Matt Bullivant Sandra H. Alejandro L. Ethel Tambudzai Caroline Vaughan Tutu Popoola Ketan Mohile Lucy Woolfenden Marian D’Auria Yasmin Topia Stewart Green Dr Leeya Hendricks Julian B. 🌟 Reflecting on Our Time at the Innovation Zero Conference 🌟 The Future We Want team attended the Innovation Zero Conference last week and we have some reflections.... 🍌 Sponsorship Controversy: It's disheartening to see much of the LinkedIn narrative focusing on the headline sponsor, BP, who seemingly slipped in at the last moment. The irony and discomfort of having BP, a fossil fuel giant, sponsor a conference centred around green technology and sustainability, were not lost on us. This lack of clarity and poor communication to attendees and exhibitors around sponsorship was a bitter pill to swallow and something we weren't even aware of when we signed up. It's really important there is transparency in such partnerships as attendees deserve to know who the key sponsors are to make informed decisions about their participation. 🍌 Pragmatic Approach: This brings us onto our next reflection... we are a #smallbusiness. Therefore we approach all opportunities with pragmatism. We don't hate ourselves for going. The conference provided invaluable insights and connections that we otherwise wouldn't have accessed. 🍌 Would We Commit Again?: Absolutely. Our experience was overwhelmingly positive. We established meaningful connections, gained invaluable insights for customer development, and engaged in enriching knowledge exchanges that are already starting to shape our future plans! Sometimes the path forward isn't always black and white - especially in business and sustainability. However, seizing opportunities amidst complexity is vital for us. It allows us to further our mission of spreading climate education and creating #meaningfulconversations. Next time, though, a touch more transparency would be greatly appreciated Innovationzero-AR!😉 #innovationzero Dr Emma Fieldhouse Charlotte Lawson Jodie Evans

Impactree's Sustainability Dialogues: Building a Community of Changemakers. We are thrilled to announce that our #SustainabilityDialogues event was a great success! The event was co-organized by Impactree Data Technologies, Project Bodhan, X Quiz It and Shreya Krishnan Design Office. We had diverse stakeholders come together to discuss the importance of sustainability and how we can work together to build a more sustainable future. One of the key takeaways from the event was the importance of defining and monitoring sustainability metrics. We have found that organizations monitor metrics only if they are monetizable. In the case of MSMEs, many do not have any idea what to monitor in the first place. This is the biggest challenge for sustainability to be taken seriously. Impactree helps companies and organizations identify, monitor, and measure the metrics that matter. We believe that by making sustainability measurable, we can make it more achievable. The Sustainability Dialogues were a valuable step in building a robust community around sustainability. We are grateful to everyone who participated in the event, and we look forward to continuing the conversation. This is just the beginning. Let's work together to make this world a little more sustainable. Comment below on how you can grow sustainability in the space around you. Sustainability and Business. Some think this is a contradicition in terms. Not so Sabrina Oswald. With Wirtschaftskammer Wien she organized an iCircle for Viennese entrepreneurs and invited Marlene Johler, Thomas Kaissl and me to highlight business opportunities that are linked to the ambition of doing business within planetary bounderies. Marlene Johler gave us a systemic approach on how to make businesses circular. She made us realise that this is not only good for the planet, but also for the economy. And she gave lots of practical tips on how to start the journey towards a circular economy. Thomas Kaissl gave us an insight into what collaboration at Climate Lab looks like. My organisation, Wirtschaftsagentur Wien, has already benefited from innovation programmes facilitated by the Climate Lab team and I can only recommend joining this impact community. I am greatful how much support I earned for the #WIEN2030 strategy designed by the Stadt Wien, together with many partners. Our common goal is to boost climate innovation made in vienna. Together we want to create a WinWinWin Situation. For People, Planet and Prosperity! #circulareconomy #sustainability #innovation #earth4all
