The Solinst Readout Unit (SRU) is a rugged, handheld device designed to connect to a deployed Solinst datalogger and display instant water level readings. It allows a real-time monitoring session to be viewed and saved – independent of the dataloggers internal logging mode. A built-in barometer provides the option of real-time water level readings that are automatically compensated. The SRU can check the status of a datalogger's battery and memory while in the field. It is also a data download and storage device. I'm thrilled to dive back into the world of EMT once again. I wanted to share a tool that I've found particularly useful: the "Switching and Lightning Toolbox" in EMTP-RV. This #Lightning_Stroke device from the switching and lightning toolbox is a lightning stroke CIGRE waveshape modeled as a current source in parallel with a resistance. It must be connected at the node where you need to simulate the lightning strikes. It's ideal for simulating a lightning stroke or determining the critical lightning current at a location for flashover determination or mean-time-between-failure (MTBF) analysis. Key features: • To simulate a particular lightning stroke, simply set the lightning stroke magnitude (𝐼𝑚), the start time, and a method of parameter calculation, then start the simulation normally. You can connect several of these devices to the same node to simulate subsequent strokes. • To automatically determine the critical current, check the "Find critical current" checkbox and click OK. Several simulations will be automatically started with different lightning stroke parameters until the critical current is found with the requested precision. It's a handy tool for those who want to conduct hassle-free analysis using a great software like EMTP-RV. #EMTP_RV #Switching_and_Lightning_Toolbox

I have never understood the emphasis on melt pool monitoring since the machine control at the melt pool level is mostly proprietary (i.e. galvo dynamics) Right? Even if the monitoring did indicate an issue related to sharp angle contours or end/stat of vectors the user couldn't do anything to edit these settings (on most machines) Yet everyone continues to ask for better monitoring without attempting to create a common build file/machine control language. What am I missing?
