These are based on numerous techniques which include quantitative, semi quantitative and qualitative assessments. Literature suggests the use of the failure modes, effects and diagnostics analysis (FMEDA) technique to determine PTC. The FMEDA technique requires knowledge of component failure mode percentages, the allocation of failure rates to specific failures and an understanding of what dangerous failures can be revealed by diagnostics (where applicable) and during proof testing. From the research undertaken to date it is evident that there is great deal of variation in the results of such assessments relating to ESDVs. The results obtained from several experts ranges significantly for a typical full stroke type test. This variation in results has the potential to impact the PFD and hence test intervals such that testing may be conducted too often (a cost penalty) or not often enough (a potential safety consequence). #IVS #ESDVs #Sustanaibility #AI #JIP 33 #Valves #ESG #CSRD

This could be costing you more than you think! 😲 🔍 The reality is that many technicians overlook subtle, invisible signals in a quick glance, missing critical faults. ✅ A common example is when intermittent pressure variations occur. Instead of thoroughly inspecting the entire system, many technicians simply recalibrate the sensor. The result? The issue returns, causing costly #downtime. To prevent this from happening to you, follow these steps: 1️⃣ 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 Don’t rely solely on obvious signs. Analyze the trends across all data: pressures, temperatures, and variations over time. For instance, when investigating a temperature fluctuation, check if it's linked to the operational cycle of other equipment. 🔄 2️⃣𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 Use multiple sensors to verify the accuracy of the data. 📊 If a pressure sensor reading seems unusual, compare it with data from another sensor in a different position. This helps validate the diagnosis and pinpoint whether the issue lies with the sensor or the system. 🛠𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒆𝒙𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆: A level sensor in a tank might show incorrect readings due to residue buildup. Cross-check with data from other level sensors to confirm whether physical interference is at play. 3️⃣ 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗨𝗽-𝘁𝗼-𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗲 Technology evolves fast. What you learned 5 years ago may now be outdated. Continuously invest in training to learn new diagnostic tools and methods. 🎓 🔧 𝑼𝒔𝒆𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆: The ISA (International Society of Automation) offers online courses on instrumentation and control, focusing on modern fault detection practices. Also, regularly consult sensor manufacturer manuals to ensure you're following the latest recommendations. 💡 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐬 𝐓𝐢𝐩: Whenever you solve a problem, document the steps you took and why you made those decisions.
