Giving birth to a child while simultaneously birthing the mother inside of you is such a significant part of the process that usually occurs traumatically. We put most of our efforts into preparing for the babies birth, bringing the baby home, and birthing the baby that we forget just how important the birth of their mother is ๐ฆ๐ฆ. When we construct our environments, supports, and self in a way that allows us to ease into that birth, it gives us a chance to improve the outcomes related to the fourth trimester and PMADโs. While we cannot account for everything that will happen, we can always do more when it comes to preparing the mother, physically AND mentally for what is to come with BOTH births. If we can birth ourselves safely, and in a trauma informed way, our babies will be positively impacted by this event, and thatโs a start in the right direction Download this guide to get a better understanding of learning to nurture and love the mother youโre becoming, whether youโre prevent, newly postpartum, or 10 years seasoned. The Value of 'Life-Story' Work and Reminiscence in Dementia Care should Never be Underrated. Last month, our Dad passed away peacefully in his sleep, but I was so happy that I had previously recorded his life-story. As a family, we enjoyed watching it alongside him and seeing how actively he was able to engage and once again, lead the narrative. Understanding someoneโs life experiences and helping them connect with their memories is essential for delivering person-centered dementia care. Our memories are culturally integral to who we are, and without them, itโs hard to maintain the sense of self that is so vital to our health and happiness. Thatโs why life-story work and engaging in reminiscence activities are so important. It helps people reconnect with their past to improve their current well-being. Reducing the โcultural social gapโ between individuals and professional care partners is imperative, and the sharing of life stories has so many benefits. Learning about someoneโs life experiences can help care partners build stronger, more empathetic relationships with them. Deeper insights into individual stories can further help in understanding behaviours and devising effective care strategies to help the person in difficult times. Letโs not forget that itโs also lots of fun! Listening to the memories of older people and sharing stories can be surprising, fascinating, and educational. So, both with your Loved Ones and Professionally โ 'START RECORDING'. #dementiatrust #dementiacare #dementiaawareness #blackculturalarchives #thewick #alzheimersawareness #culturalcompetency

What is the mother? What is the position of the mother? What Motherhood Role In Family? Understanding the Essence and Role of Motherhood Motherhood is a profound and multifaceted concept that extends beyond biology, encompassing a spectrum of roles and responsibilities within society. At its core, the term "mother" evokes nurturing, compassion, and a unique connection with offspring. Biologically, a mother is an individual who gives birth to a child, a process that marks the beginning of a lifelong bond. However, the essence of motherhood transcends biology. Adoptive mothers, stepmothers, and other caregivers also play vital roles in nurturing and shaping the lives of those under their care. read my full article. thanks like share to all. https://rb.gy/5xzoi2

Co-Host of the NICU Lived Network, Founder of Easy Family Co | Senior Research Officer at NHMRC CTC | Founder of Miracle Babies Foundation - exited by the Board (see official statement)
Our first episode not just showing the work being done as parent/consumer reps, but giving you real opportunities to use your lived experience to do the same!
Are you a NICU parent or carer, or an adult who was born premature? This is your opportunity to share your experience as a parent/consumer representative. In this episode, we share 3 real opportunities - two are working group positions and one is a global survey helping decide research priorities. Your voice, your experience is vital! Below are the links you need to find out more and express your interest today: 1. The SurPre Trial (Targeted surveillance of young children born very preterm) is looking for consumers to join a working group to help develop a follow-up model of care for children aged between two and four years that will be targeted to the needs of the child and their family, and which can be implemented across Australia. The working group is co-chaired by Melinda, with Natalie and Emma also part of the project. Meetings are online and you will be paid an honorarium for your time. Fill in the expression of interest form here before 27 October 2023: https://lnkd.in/gcaisbRg 2. PLATIPUS is a world-first Adaptive Platform Trial investigating multiple interventions during pregnancy, at birth and in neonatal units to improve the health of preterm infants. PLATIPUS is looking for 1 or 2 consumers to join their Follow-up Committee led by Professor Jeanie Cheong. And by joining this committee youโll also be a part of the PLATIPUS Lived Experience Committee which is chaired by Melinda. Meetings are online and you will be paid an honorarium for your time. Comment below or email us to express interest at [email protected] 3. The Most Premature Babies Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) Survey wants you to help choose the 10 questions that matter the most to you helping to determine the top 10 research priorities for extremely premature babies. The results will be shared with the international research community and funding bodies, to help researchers design and conduct studies and act as a guide for funding bodies and research institutions to determine where resources should be prioritised. The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Survey closes 10 November 2023. https://lnkd.in/gtMV6WjP #nicu #niculivednetwork #nicubaby #research #livedexperience #survey #prematurity #premmie #preemie #baby https://lnkd.in/gZvjQg5G

Becoming a dad is a game-changer, no doubt about it. Suddenly, your whole life takes a wild turn. Now, here's the thing: most of us aren't exactly experts when we jump into fatherhood. It's like going on this crazy adventure that stretches us in all sorts of unexpected ways. We're trying to juggle the demands of our partners, kids, and jobs and it can get pretty complex. If youโre a dad of young kids, or maybe expecting your first, join the next cohort of the becoming a dad group! This group is for guys who are expecting their first child or who have recently had their first child. Over the years, the group has seen guys who are in all different types of partnerships, and guys who are un-partnered. Members live the full spectrum of sex and gender identity, and are all over the place in terms of age. Participants have been people who have a kid naturally with a partner and those who have adopted a child or had a child via surrogate. All dads are welcome. Hoping to start in June! https://lnkd.in/ePa_hYxb
