🌿 Exciting Announcement 🌿 We are thrilled to share some big news with all our supporters and partners! Formerly known as Future Farm Grown LLC, we have officially transitioned into a non-profit organization called Generous Harvest. 🌾 Since 2010, Future Farm Grown, LLC has been dedicated to growing top-quality leafy greens and head lettuce using innovative Controlled Environment Agriculture methods at our facility in Baldwin, Wisconsin. Our products have been reaching distribution partners across the Midwest, including major food service distributors in the region. In response to the significant increase in demand for locally grown produce, especially in food insecurity programs, we began collaborating with hunger relief partners in 2023. This shift in focus inspired us to convert our business into a 501C3 non-profit organization to better support these crucial programs. While our name and mission have evolved, our commitment to providing high-quality products remains unchanged. Generous Harvest will operate by selling to both for-profit and non-profit organizations, ensuring sustainable revenue to cover operational expenses. To further our impact, we will be engaging with donors and grant programs to establish a Subsidy fund. This fund aims to reduce or eliminate costs for organizations involved in hunger relief efforts within our region. Effective as of 1/1/2024, we have officially changed our organization's status and filed for our 501C3 on 1/24/2024. Stay tuned for the gradual transition from Future Farm Grown to Generous Harvest in the coming months, along with exciting updates on partnerships that have blossomed since refocusing our efforts. "Charity is done, not said." But we at EUPSA have decided to speak out and share this initiative with you. Aware that food is a precious resource that many people unfortunately cannot access, we have decided to join, during our 25th Congress in Bologna (June 12th-15th) the “Food for Good project”. Unused food will be collected and distributed to local non-profit organizations instead of becoming waste, thereby creating less environmental impact. In celebration of World Environment Day on June 5th, we are committed to making a difference. Long Covid is leading to millions of new cases of M.E., Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/cfs that already had millions affected before Covid. Quality of life scores for ME/cfs are very low. I know several with ME/cfs that are disabled, vs were very productive before. Need Congress to fully fund NIH incl new investments for Long Covid and ME/cfs, related illnesses. The ROI for this should be huge, vs estimated cost to our economy in trillions (Harvard article). New Covid cases are lower now, but millions still ill with Long Covid, about half are consistent with ME/cfs.

For HHT Awareness month this year, Global News reported about the importance of recognizing Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) and its common presentations in people. This informative segment also describes the role of routine screening for HHT patients and strategies to improve care for patients with HHT, like community support groups and furthering research in this field. This chart shows the results of a study in 2015, looking at the health-related quality of life for different diseases (the EQ-5D 3L score, if you wanna get really nerdy about it...) 👀 The results may be surprising to those without experience of ME/CFS, but not to those whose lives have been touched, or indeed wrecked, by it. The quality of life was rock bottom, and frankly by a margin. This is why we urgently, and I mean urgently, need to turn the tide - both in terms of government funding (which is utterly neglectful) and through private philanthropy and donations 💙 #MECFS #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis #InvisibleIllness

Before working with SA Harvest I had no clue the degree to which food was being wasted in our country. I mean, in my household I’m quite a stickler for wasting food - my kids can attest to this 🥴 On average, 10 million tons of good food is dumped into landfills annually by farmers, retailers, manufacturers and so on. Food that didn’t make the quality grade, food that’s been over produced, etc. Good food going to waste. On average, 20 million people in SA go hungry every single day. 20 million people live below the food security line and most of them are kids and the elderly 🥹 On its own, these stats are profound, however, if the 10 tons of food can be rescued, it would exceed feeding those 20 million starving South Africans with 3 nutritious meals a day for more than a year 🤯 imagine that, and end to hunger in SA 🙌 I call on all my corporate mates to help organisations like SA Harvest not only this time by donating #bucketsofnutrition for #mandelamonth but to consider how you help them do this sustainably. To help restore the dignity of our people so that our kids may thrive and that we rebuild a nation where not a single South African will ever be hungry again.
