1 biscuit = 1 Lakh Rupees Here’s What happened- Complainant P Dillibabu of Chennai alleged there were only 15 biscuits inside the Sunfeast Marie biscuit packet as against the advertised 16. The matter went to court and it said- “It is argued by the learned counsel for the 1st opposite party (the company i.e. ITC) that the product was sold only based on the weight and not on number of biscuits. Such arguments could not be accepted as the wrapper clearly provides the information to the buyers/consumers to purchase the product only based on the number of biscuits. The potential consumer would only see the wrapper to decide the purchase of the product as the product information available on the packing influences the consumer’s buying behavior and that the product information available on the wrapper or label plays a significant role in customer satisfaction,” the order said. In the end, ITC paid ₹1 Lakh, plus they had to stop selling that entire batch of biscuits! Dillibabu’s story is a reminder that we, as consumers, have rights. We deserve what we pay for! 💸 If you learned something new today please follow my page CA Sneha Tibrewal #ITC #biscuit #Sunfeast #mariebiscuits #knowyourrights #consumerrights #consumercourt Want to know the process to exercise your Consumer Rights?

Had a roll from Roll-Baby-Roll for Lunch yesterday, on my way to a meeting. It got me thinking about what I was eating... 💥Outlets by Market Leaders in Chennai💥 🍽 Roll Baby Roll has about 14 outlets 🍽 Tibbs Foods Private Limited has about 12 outlets 🍽 The Kathi Roll Shop has only 5 outlets 🍽 Bayleaf has only 1 outlet 💥Breakdown the numbers💥 💫 An outlet (these are tiny outlets) can do about Rs. 15k / day 💫 An average roll (with all the extras & stuff) costs between Rs. 150-200/- 💫 General COGS (central kitchen live outlet)ranges between 25% - 30% 💫 Net Margins are anywhere between 5% to 10% Chennai's 32 standalone roll outlets, do ~Rs. 20 cr/year (12 Lac rolls / year) 💥Putting this in context💥 1. Domino's and Pizza Hut alone have ~ 125 outlets in Chennai. 2. KFC India, McDonald's and Burger King alone have ~ 41 outlets in Chennai. So the real question is - When rolls are so Indianised and wholesome, not to mention easy to eat on the go, why are #Pizzas and #Burgers outselling Rolls to the tune of 10 : 1, if not more? Let me know what you think in the comments! #QSR

When do customers start to doubt there’s a sustainability problem with your business? One of my dearest go-to places, a food behemoth that procures and sells fresh produce, dairy, deli and baked food in addition to running a chef’s station, closed shop a few months ago. Did I see this coming? May be. At a sprawling top spot considered Bangalore’s upper-east side, this brand had the best-trained team when they started. Over the years, as the marked prices on their jars kept getting higher, the consumer-first task force kept turning into sorry sell-it-all commandos. They would push you to buy blue cheese even if you had bought 200 gms of cheddar and told them you were living alone. Did I still like them? Yes, for the super-quick check-out tills, the spiking clean push-carts and the freshest of smell that felt like a jog in the autumn. I’m sorry to see them gone. When was the last time you experienced a business knot in the way training standards were slumping and prices were jumping? If you did, that was a sustainibility red flag. #sustainibility #CustomerExperience #serviceexcellence #learningculture

I was peacefully eating Bhujia 🍝when I came across this news A Bhujia company is valued at $10 Billion!? Back when I was in Gurgaon, I went to Haldiram's restaurant for the first time. It was elegant, clean and efficient. Dosa and Lassi was 8/10. Back then I didn't think much about it. It was just a bhujia brand for me. But when I read the news about Tata planning to acquire a majority in Haldiram's for a whopping $10Bn #valuation I was curious so I read more about it. Why does Tata Group want Haldiram's ? 👉Tata is trying to expand its share in FMCG and Haldiram's 13% market share in India snack industry seems to be a great option for distribution No other Indian brand is with this much vigour in the packaged food and food services segment. 👉In FY23, They did a revenue of ₹11,143 Crores! That's literally more than India's McDonalds and Domino's combined! Also, Tata doesn't want to be seen as a tea company for some reason. I want to see how Tata Consumer plans to further expand the already successful Haldiram's Because both Tata Consumer and Haldiram's have nearly the same revenue Haldiram Snacks Pvt.Ltd. Haldiram Foods International Ltd Haldiram Snacks Pvt.Ltd. Tata Group

🍪🤔 The Costliest Biscuit 🤔🍪 Ever thought a biscuit could cost a whopping 1 lakh? Well, ITC Limited discovered that the hard way. In a case, a consumer court fined ITC 1 lakh for packing one biscuit less in their 16-biscuit Sun Feast Marie Light pack. Here's the story: A Chennai-based consumer bought a dozen 'Sun Feast Marie Light' biscuit packets. But when a customer opened one, he found only 15 biscuits inside. ITC argued that they sold by weight, not by numbers. However, the court disagreed, pointing out that the wrapper clearly stated 16 biscuits. Lesson: In today's world, even one missing biscuit can lead to significant legal consequences for manufacturers.

On Wednesday, Reuters reported that Tata Consumer Products (TCPL) is looking to buy a 51 % stake in Haldiram's at a valuation of around $10 billion. If this goes through TCPL will pit itself directly with PepsiCo’s Lays & Kurkure, ITC Limited’s Bingo; and balaji wafers in India’s large and competitive ‘organized’ snack food market. Euromonitor International estimates that the 3 branches of the family that independently run Haldiram's combined have about a 13% share of $6.2 billion savory snack market. In this piece on the Business Standard Morning Show today, Suveen Sinha and weigh in on the implications. #BSMorningShow | Sanket Koul| Kasthuri Akhil https://lnkd.in/drFafkPM

The Coffee Conspiracy☕️ Two weeks ago, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee lured me into the new abCoffee kiosk at DLF Cyberpark. I couldn't resist their Hazelnut Cappuccino, and let me tell you, it was a revelation! Naturally, curiosity got the better of me. I looked up abCoffee online and found Abhijeet Anand's profile. Suddenly, it all clicked. Abhijeet's posts about their rapid store openings kept popping up, along with news of their latest funding round. Everywhere I turned on LinkedIn, abCoffee was there! Intrigued, I chatted with my batchmates, and guess what? Everyone raved about Abcoffee's delicious and affordable coffee. Did I mention the baristas' infectious smiles that brighten your day? This morning, the universe seemed to solidify my abCoffee obsession. I stumbled upon a fascinating article in The Ken about their grab-and-go coffee model. It even triggered a childhood memory – back in Bihar, we used to sprinkle coffee powder on top of our hot beverages! ☕️ (I still do this with tea for my friends during winter, and believe it or not, it's a hit!) Here's the question: Is abCoffee simply a master of marketing, strategically placing themselves in my path? Or is this a sign from the coffee gods to stay permanently caffeinated? #Abcoffee #CoffeeLovers #GrabAndGo #SupportLocal #CaffeinatedConspiracy
