The new CEO of Gap, Richard Dickson, has consistently shown he is a master in branding and brand transformation. And possibly the coolest American corporate CEO out there. Just watch him in any interview. Responsible for the Barbie turnaround that culminated in the hit Barbie movie, he's now working his magic at The Gap with the stock surging after a strong first Q1. What we can learn from Richard on branding: 1. A good brand needs to have a diaologue with customers, not a monologue with itself. 2. "Evolution keeps a brand revelant. Purpose makes a brand immortal." 3. Take big swings and fail fast. 4. Brands today need to be precise in the value they represent to command value with consumers. 5. "You don't have to have everyone like us. You should have those who like us LOVE us."

No products were ever sold to the public, but the storytelling and MIV was worth the effort. 3) Collaborate through Innovation. Create products outside of your area of expertise.
