It was an exciting day in Winston-Salem, North Carolina as our Winston-Salem Northern Beltway Eastern Section project team welcomed a very special visitor - Pete Buttigieg, U.S. Secretary of Transportation. Alongside NCDOT, Flatiron team members had the opportunity to guide Secretary Buttigieg through a project tour - sharing details on this vital infrastructure project. Each day, more than 100,000 vehicles and trucks travel through metropolitan Winston-Salem – stressing current roadway infrastructure. The completed Winston-Salem Northern Beltway will include a multi-lane freeway that loops around the northern part of the city. The beltway will help alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety. Funded in part by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, this $126 million roadway project will extend the eastern section of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway 1.5 miles between U.S. 311 and I-40. The project includes five new bridges, rehabilitation of three existing bridges and will contain 7.8 million pounds of structural steel. In 2022, Flatiron completed a contiguous section of the beltway which was awarded ENR Southeast 2023 Best Projects Award of Merit. #TransformingInfrastructure #FlatironProject
Great photos!
Only 13 republicans voted yes. Hardly bipartisan.
Congratulations Flatiron!
