I’m not in the #recruiting or #headhunting game, but Mike Russo describes some very interesting differences between the two. I feel this is a good reference for transitioning military recruiters or HR professionals who may not understand the nuances between the two. It’s all about expanding your knowledge base. Those coming from the military into a corporate environment not only have to content with the differences in language, but also industry specific terms that get used quite often. I know Michael Quinn also talks about these issues all the time. #linkedin #veteran #strategy

What IS headhunting? 🔍 "One of the first questions we’re all asked when we meet people is ‘what do you do?’ If I answer this question with ‘I’m a headhunter’ it’s often met with a blank look, or an enquiry about whether I can get the questioner a job. So, what is headhunting, and how does it differ from “traditional” recruitment? "Terms like headhunting, executive search and talent acquisition tend to be used fairly interchangeably within the industry, so it’s important to understand what a recruiter actually does, not just what they call themselves... "Not all recruitment roles are created equal, and there are pros and cons of the different types of approaches. For example, at Newman Stewart we only work on mission-critical, retained assignments, and we are usually headhunting when we do it." Headhunting = Recruiting OR Headhunting ≠ Recruiting? ❓What's your stand on this? ❓What do you prefer working as or with? ❓What benefits or drawbacks do you see in either of them? Let's see what ChatGPT thinks about this: "Recruiting is generally considered a broader and more inclusive process that involves identifying, attracting, and hiring suitable candidates for a variety of positions within an organization. Recruiters may utilize various channels, such as job boards, social media, and internal databases, to source candidates. The focus is on building a pipeline of potential hires and fostering long-term relationships with candidates. On the other hand, headhunting is often seen as a more targeted and proactive approach. Headhunters, also known as executive search professionals, specialize in identifying and recruiting highly qualified candidates for specific, usually senior, roles. They may directly approach individuals who are not actively seeking employment but possess the desired skills and experience." ______________________________________________________________________________ #Headhunting #ExecutiveSearch #GoldenNeedleInTheHaystack #RecruitmentStrategies #Headhunter #ITheadhunting #headhuntingboutique
