Retail, Marketing, and Arts and Entertainment Professional focusing on strengthening brand visibility and customer loyalty through exceptional experiences.
As someone with a lifetime of exposure and experience in the theater and entertainment industry, let me tell you why working at Build-A-Bear Workshop is perfect for developing industry skills. 1) The theatrical industry is embracing interactive and immersive experiences more than ever before, and while improv games are fun, they don’t fully prepare you for real improv. Talking to a five year old about their life is the best “yes, and?” Training you’ll ever receive. 2)You want to get more comfortable with technical machinery? The stuffers have increased my confidence in motor-powered machinery ten-fold. 3)Theaters deal with a lot of emotional depth. Working with teddy bears and kids has healed my inner child in a way I didn’t think possible. 4) Build-a-Bear is about so much more than a regular retail position. It’s about the experience. And the character and role our Bear Builders play everyday may change from guest to guest, but they create an experience unlike anything else in the world. And that’s because they perform their role to bring the guests’ furry friends to life with a passion and excitement that has made Build-a-Bear.
Know anyone who would be a great fit for Build-A-Bear? We're NOW HIRING seasonal associates! We're looking for energetic and caring individuals to join our team and add a little more heart to their life with flexible hours and a fun environment. Join us in stores on 10/14 from 10 am to 2 pm for our Seasonal Hiring Event to apply and interview in the same day – or explore open opportunities and apply online right now! We're getting a lot of excitement over the hiring for our new role. One common question is, what are we trying to do? Well, let's start by talking about pizza. Have you heard about a "Pizza Meter"? Story goes, sometime in the early 1980's a local DC Domino's (pizza chain) owner noticed that whenever some declaration of war or other major international event happened, deliveries of pizza to government offices and the pentagon soared. With this, he realized that he could "predict" major international events in the US based on how many pizzas were ordered. In NaPOLLeon, we call this the pizza effect--but it's really just clever regression and extrapolation, the kind that we all do everyday. Thing is, while big businesses can afford to pay for the kinds of localized data required to do extrapolation, SMEs can't--but need to. In fact, we think the need is all the more pressing in the age of digitalization. For example, a new clothing brand might need to decide where to base and launch, how to localize, what demographic to target, and whether sustainability/eco-friendly needs are a priority for the bottomline. A bespoke carpenter might need to decide which trade shows to go to. At NaPOLLeon, we hope to be able to answer these kinds of questions. Essentially, by extrapolating certain kinds of deductive data and customer responses, we hope to be able to say "X% in Y territory under Z conditions believe in A". Inferentially, this will allow businesses to overcome the uncertainty gap in spending. How will we achieve this? Well, the front-end--that's the secret part. Follow us to find out more.
