Indigenous Connections is a great new website by entrepreneur Renée Boucher. It gives companies an opportunity to connect with new Indigenous employees. It’s an easy-to-use database that helps match Indigenous workers with companies that need them. What a great idea. And a positive step towards economic reconciliation. As Boucher explains, “A lot of these companies have really jumped on board and are trying to do proactive things, but it's still new.” At NWAC, we know that businesses have benefited from partnering with us and our National Apprenticeships Program, to ensure their workplaces include Indigenous Women in skilled trades. Bank of Ireland has moved up 20 places - to 32 from 52, year on year - in the Sunday Independent Ireland's Best Employers 2024 rankings. Bank of Ireland leads in the survey for banking and financial services in Ireland. Our ambition is to be one of the best places to work. We're investing in hybrid, empowering colleagues to work from a range of locations including home, office, and 16 hybrid working hubs across Ireland. We're introducing a range of progressive people policies, the most recent being our neuroinclusion strategy to support colleagues and candidates for roles. And, we're improving reward with enhanced benefits, more flexibility to buy and sell leave, and a Group Profit Share introduced this year. The metrics that track our culture and what it is like to work here show that Bank of Ireland is now five points ahead of the Global Financial Services benchmark, up 26 points since 2018. I was very pleased to see this piece addressing social mobility in financial services. Working in a financial role for a trade union I have been struck by the relative lack of focus in the sector more generally on social mobility in comparison to other sections of the economy. There is some important work to be done- through apprenticeship schemes, employer commitments to proactive mentoring and shadowing and through broader organisational culture change to open up finance careers to a more diverse socio-economic audience - than is evidently the case at the moment. https://lnkd.in/eTqRRsvw #socialmobility
