Education settings, listen up! We have an urgent message to share. Disturbingly, we are witnessing a surge in reports of young people falling victim to 'sextortion'. But what is this? What does it mean for children? This despicable act involves exploiting our vulnerable children and young people, by coercing them into paying a ransom or fulfilling financial demands. But let's be clear, this is NOT just about money. It's about the safety and well-being of our children. It's a form of child sexual abuse that we must put an end to. We call upon all those who work directly with young people, those in industries where exploitation can be detected, and every concerned citizen, to join forces in protecting our future generation. Together, we can create a shield of awareness, resilience, and support, ensuring children and young people are shielded from the clutches of exploitation. Let's spread the word, raise awareness, and empower our communities to take action! Need support for your staff teams then please get in touch through our website today. www.socialworktoolkit.uk

Where do I see myself going if education and outreach separate? Outreach workers do education while they are doing outreach. Education seems like it’s doing outreach anyway. This makes my head hurt, but I honestly don’t think I’m going to do E&O forever. I enjoy it. It gives me a lot of room to heal and freedom to explore things I want to explore. Eventually, I think I will go into direct service because I always find myself flouncing down the stairs to talk to the direct service advocates or CRAs at the desk. I know direct service is harder, and I might be terrible at it, but I think direct service might heal my heart more at some point. When I see the mommas, they remind me of my mom, and when I see the kiddos, I just see myself. Those littles…they’re future advocates it training. I don’t know what tomorrow looks like, or 5 years from now looks like. I don’t even know if I’ll be alive in 5 years. I think it’s all about right now, this moment. How am I showing up in community? How am I making a difference to someone? We can’t get to tomorrow, if we don’t make it through today. I know we have to be organizational and have a plan and do all the things, but I can just keep doing the best I can do, one day at a time.

Professor of Psychology | Director at Humintell, LLC. Conducting research on emotion, culture, and nonverbal behavior for over 3 decades.
Any parent of young children know that raising kids can be a bit messy, especially when they’re infants (here's me with my now 41 year old daughter when she was a baby). In addition to plenty of kisses, there’s always drool to be wiped, and slobbery feedings. Recent research has shown that exposure to family members’ saliva, what is known in the academic world as “saliva sharing”, plays a crucial role in how we make sense of the world around us. It helps shape our discernment of social relationships, starting from our first months of life. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g7TB9qD6
