What are the implications for crypto-asset issuers and service providers?   𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀: 🌍 Crypto-asset issuers and service providers must disclose sustainability indicators for all crypto-assets they issue and provide services for, starting in 2024. 💡 Issuers need to publish a whitepaper including sustainability indicators; service providers need to make the indicators easily accessible on their websites. 📊 European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) proposes mandatory disclosure of ten quantitative indicators covering energy, GHG emissions, waste production, and natural resources.   MiCA is a game changer in crypto regulation, poised to become a blueprint for other jurisdictions that currently lack regulatory clarity. Furthermore, enabled by the data transparency of public blockchains, we see the MiCA sustainability disclosure mandate as a north star for other industries that currently lack access to such data.
