Iโve been seeing a lot of my clients posting about how itโs important for their respective clients to continue hiring processes throughout the December โSlowdownโ period, but I think this point is especially true for recruitment firms themselves. Ironically, some recruitment firms can give out advice as to how they believe their clients should be hiring yet are the worst at practicing what they preach. Iโve been hit with the โWeโre not hiring until Janโ response a few times, and itโs frankly LUDICROUS! Think about it this way - If youโve just hired a stellar top-biller, you ideally want them to hit the ground running asap, and this is the perfect time to do so. Make the hire and use this time to get them onboarded and training them ahead of things getting back up to speed, speaking to your existing clients who are themselves planning for hiring in the new year and, most importantly, get them integrated with your team (yes, that means taking them to the Christmas party). If this is done, youโll have a fully up-and-running consultant come January who will already have clear understandings of your ways of working, have already built relationships internally, understand the needs of each client like the back of their hand and have already begun building talent pools to fill those roles. With tech poised to make a big comeback in 2024, youโre shooting yourself in the foot if youโre not taking advantage of this unique opportunity at the end of the year to prepare.
