The Global Filter team recently enjoyed a day of team-building and volunteering at an urban farming non-profit, extending our Mission into their local community. This team of entrepreneurs is making the world--and their local neighborhoods--safer, healthier and more productive.

We are excited to share our recent volunteer experience at the Matthew 25 Cultivate Hope Urban Farm in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa! 🌿🌎
Our team spent a rewarding day harvesting fresh produce and learned more about how to give back to the community through sustainable initiatives.
A big thank you to Matthew 25 for hosting us and for their incredible work in fostering community resilience through urban agriculture. Together we're cultivating hope and making a positive impact! 🌱

🌳 Did you know #OurCounty has increased its annual budget for reforestation efforts by over 70% compared to 2021? 🤔
This has helped us maximize opportunities and double the number of trees planted at parks and green areas, as well as in roadways, at county buildings and in environmentally endangered areas. 🌿
The county is close to finalizing a contract with the USDA to implement a $10 million grant to plant trees primarily on streets in targeted areas over the next five years. 💵 ➡️ 🌲
Programs like Adopt-a-Tree and Million Trees Miami are resulting in an additional 10,000 trees provided to residents to plant each year through free giveaways. 🆓
Last month, Miami-Dade County Office of Resilience was invited to a tree planting event with Coca-Cola Beverages Florida where 80 trees were planted at North Pointe Community Center. 🌱
Our Extreme Heat Action Plan aims to reduce excessive heat by expanding the tree canopy and adding more vegetation across urban areas. ☀️

We think Hull & East Yorkshire have some amazing community groups 😁
We went along and visited the Pollinate Eco Garden, which aims to provide a calm and beautiful place for families, events, and more 🥰

Sometimes even when you compute the numbers, working with water is a colossal challenge!
Just recently spent some time helping the #TeesBarrage team refresh some of their operational policies and training modules, got to see the Barrage in full action during #StormBabet.
I left today when there was 120 cumecs (m3 per second) of water going over the gates, this helps regulate the levels of the river tees through #Thornaby and #Stockton providing recreational space and miles of waterside developments.
Let’s break the numbers down;
That’s 60,000 2Litre bottles of Milk going over the gates each second. EACH SECOND!
Over the course of 24 hours this equals 9.1 BILLION Litres of water (or about 4.55 billion bottles of milk)
And it’s only going to get stronger. The team are expecting that later on we will achieve 200 cumecs and that’s a conservative estimate.

My work is my passion. I'm not always online, but always active.
Right now, I'm blessed to be working at both grassroots level and macro level. Making visible and tangible changes, small and large - by growing food, community, connecting people to land and self discovery, watching nature's healing powers right before my eyes - and also working with a multi-disciplinary team of highly talented and skilled researchers and professionals to tackle big questions like feasibility and scalability if GGR methods, creating robust MRV frameworks to meet Net Zero targets, and engaging arts and humanities in the GGR conversation.
We need spaces to explore our connection to nature, but also to learn about it. We need spaces to experiment with food and learn how to grow - how to enrich soil with Biochar or crop rotate for health. We need the scientist, and the farmer.
It is with that love and passion that I write this post. A local Bristol Farm that I've come to know and love (Bridge Farm Community) has been at risk of loss due to financial losses and planning delays and, a pandemic. Exhaustive conversations by our directing team, and think tank sessions with brilliant Bristolians have led to a possible solution. Today I'm excited to share the opportunity that we all have to KEEP Bridge Farm Community in community ownership once and for all. By raising £100,000 in match funding, we will qualify for a Community Ownership Fund (CoF) so that Bristol Community Land Trust (BCLT) can purchase the farm from the pioneer lenders, ensuring it stays in community.
By reading the story and history of this special land, and donating to the crowdfunder, you can help keep secure the future of the farm and keep it as a space for learning, growing, community, and connection for years to come.
As we are learning, we make a better future by investing in it!

🌍 Reflecting on a fulfilling weekend hosting Relate Central Park Cleanup Community Day! 🌱
We want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us for our annual Relate Central Park Cleanup Community Day. Your dedication to making our community cleaner and more vibrant truly embodies our values of leadership and stewardship.
At Relate Central, we believe that businesses have a responsibility to not only excel in their industry but also to contribute positively to the communities they serve. Volunteering isn't just about giving back; it's about demonstrating leadership through action.
By coming together as a team, we're not only cleaning up our environment but also fostering a culture of teamwork and social responsibility.
Our efforts this weekend weren't just about picking up trash; they were about leading by example and showing our commitment to sustainability and community involvement.
It was inspiring to see everyone's enthusiasm and dedication throughout the day. Together, we made a tangible difference that will resonate beyond our event.
