Last month, the Research & Technology team kicked off their leadership offsite by volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. We’re proud of our team for sorting 4,754 lbs of food in the cold storage and providing 3,962 meals for those in need. Did you know that in the United States, nearly 40% of the food sold at grocery stores goes to waste? In fact, an estimated 80 million tons of food gets thrown away each year. On top of that, an estimated 45 million Americans report experiencing food insecurity. Franklin, TN-based nonprofit, One Generation Away seeks to stop food waste—and more importantly, feed those who need it. The organization offers a mobile pantry—delivering boxes of food to those in need, no questions asked. The items One Generation Away offers are all perfectly viable and healthful, and typically include fresh produce and pantry staples like peanut butter, soups, cereal, and granola bars. Provisions Group team members recently gathered to help pack boxes as part of our Planting Seeds ethos. As symbolized by our wheat logo, when you help others, everyone can reap a harvest. We love to serve the community, to help everyone thrive. #NashilleCommunity #PlantingSeeds #CommunityService #NashvilleTech

By celebrating the successes of other nonprofits, we can both empower the entire nonprofit community and unlock valuable lessons to enhance our own impact. The Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) is a beacon in the fight against hunger in Chicago. Since its founding in 1979, GCFD has been a pivotal force in distributing food to pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other programs, addressing both immediate food needs and the root causes of food insecurity. Here's an overview of GCFD's key strategies and impact: - Innovative Partnerships: Collaborates with local farmers, grocery stores, and food manufacturers to rescue and distribute surplus food. - Community Programs: Operates mobile food pantries, soup kitchens, and nutrition education initiatives to reach those most in need. - Advocacy and Education: Advocates for policies to address hunger’s root causes and educates families on nutrition and food budgeting. - Workforce Development: Offers job training programs to help individuals gain skills in the foodservice industry. Now take a look at their incredible results: - Distributed over 80 million pounds of food in 2023, providing 66 million meals. - Improved health outcomes through partnerships with healthcare providers. - Helped many secure stable employment through job training programs. GCFD’s holistic approach is creating lasting change in the community. Let their success inspire innovative strategies in your nonprofit! #NonprofitLeadership #CommunityImpact #InspirationalStories #FoodSecurity #Chicago #OrganizedSynergy

We are happy to announce our Inaugural Summer Food Drive! 🌞 Help us reach our goal of feeding 100 families this summer! 🌞 As summer rays blanket the landscape, the challenge of food insecurity intensifies for many individuals and families. ◾ With schools closing for vacation, the safety net of school meal programs disappears, leaving children at risk of going without nutritious meals. ◾ The soaring temperatures amplify the strain on limited resources, making it difficult for vulnerable communities to secure consistent access to fresh, wholesome food. ◾ In our current economic climate, more families are facing food insecurity than ever. Surprisingly, this often includes households with two working parents. As we savor the flavors of summer, let's also turn our attention to the urgent need for community-driven initiatives, support networks, and sustainable solutions to ensure that fewer people go hungry during these sunlit months. Keep an eye out for more updates! Contact us to contribute in any way possible: [email protected] | 817-447-4567 Donate: https://lnkd.in/g5CV9WBN #foodinsecurity #feedthehungry #fooddrive #communityimpact

At DC Greens, we work to coordinate resources, people, spaces, and coalitions in order to build a just and resilient food system. Nearly 11 percent of D.C. households face food insecurity. That’s why, for nearly four years, our Policy team advocated tirelessly for “Give SNAP a Raise”—which was partially funded in September of this year. It’s what drives the work behind our Produce Rx program, which reached more than 1,200 D.C. households in 2023. And it’s why our farm and community wellness space, The Well at Oxon Run, grew, harvested, and distributed more than two tons of produce this season. DC Greens believes healthy food is a human right, and we are proud to be a leader in the fight for food equity and food access. As you plan your year-end giving, we hope you’ll choose to generously support DC Greens. Together, we can build a just and resilient food system that serves all Washingtonians.
