The world of agricultural entomology holds immense promise for sustainable agriculture and biodiversity conservation. However, investing in women scientists and researchers is key to accelerating progress in this field. Investing in women within the realm of agricultural entomology is not just an investment in individuals; it is an investment in the future of sustainable agriculture. Let us commit to supporting and empowering women scientists and researchers in agricultural entomology, recognizing their invaluable contributions, and ensuring a brighter, more sustainable future for farming communities and ecosystems. I am happy to share my latest paper on a political ecology of farmers’ exposure to pesticides in Ghana. In this paper, we demonstrate two things. First, we demonstrate how politics shapes farming practices, which in turn produce ecological outcomes. Second, we demonstrate how health outcomes are socio-politically produced. Let me know your thoughts! https://lnkd.in/g7Huw8NN

Our book "Parasitic Plants in African Agriculture" is published today by CABI Research Insights! The ebook is available now (see link below), the hardback is due to follow soon. This book brings together for the first time in a single volume, the ecology, biology, damage, and control of all groups of African parasitic plants including both the relatively few parasites introduced to the continent as well as those native parasites which have spread from within Africa. This covers the well-known witchweeds and broomrapes but also groups and species that have received less attention including mistletoes, dodders, rice vampireweed, or those posing threats. It is well-illustrated by photos, graphs and species' distribution maps. https://lnkd.in/ecDiW2aQ

At Bioorgo #sustainability and #conservation is a part our company’s #culture. Our products testify this about our company. The new thrips lure we have developed is quite specific to thrips and doesn’t attract other useful insects (pollinators and predators) to sticky traps. #agriculture #horticulture #sustainableagriculture #pestmanagement #pestcontrol
🎉🥳 Bioorgo has developed a lure for monitoring thrips. The lure is specific to thrips and doesn’t attract other useful insects on to sticky traps. This lure will save many useful predatory insects 🐞 and pollinators 🐝 and aid the ecosystem. Understanding the chemical and behavioral ecology of insects is important while developing lures. #traps #sustainableagriculture #lure #sustainability #agriculture #agriculturalinnovation #agritech #agritechnica #pestmanagement #pestcontrol #bees #savingbees #horticulture #seeds #chemicalecology #ecofriendly #ecology

Do you know we may have to produce more food in next 40 years than what humans have produced in the last 8000 years combined and specially in a situation where soils are degrading at a rapid proportion. in the last 40 years we lost over 33% of the areable land. #Agroecology #SoilDegradation #FoodSecurity
