Strengthening connections between scientists, farmers’ organizations, and local communities. 👩🌾👨💼👩🔬
Sustain Sahel EU's offshoot initiative “Dissemination of appropriate agroforestry practices in the Sahel” (DAAPS) has successfully concluded its final phase after two years. DAAPS activities focused on bringing farmers and project partners together and strengthening their connections. The initiative was locally coordinated by Agrisud in Senegal, AMSD in Mali and Tiipaalga in Burkina Faso.
DAAPS’ Key Achievements:
🤝 Educational Food Fairs:
Conducted 12 fairs in Senegal, Mali, and Burkina Faso, engaging over 2,000 participants. These events employed interactive and entertaining methods, such as theatrical performances and practical demonstrations, to disseminate agroecological practices.
🌿 Tree Nurseries:
Trained 284 farmers, established 21 nurseries, and planted 79,461 trees. These efforts are aimed at enhancing farm productivity and reforesting local landscapes.
📹 Video Screenings:
Organized educational cinema sessions using smart projectors, reaching nearly 1,700 farmers. These sessions provided valuable insights into sustainable farming practices.
