Strategic advocacy, policy & communications professional currently working in the field of global health with a particular focus on women’s health & research policy.
"All the main UK-wide parties racked up lacklustre scores" Women's Health shares an analysis from Imperial College London of what the main UK political parties promise for women's health in their manifestos. Most parties' scores are bumped by promises to tackle gender-based violence, improve childcare provision & generally bolster the NHS. The inclusion of women in medical #research and clinical trials doesn’t feature anywhere, and decriminalisation and access to abortion & ensuring policy is built in consultation with #women are in none or only one of the manifestos. There's work to be done to close the #GenderHealthGap! https://lnkd.in/e94PtsbM

"There are many reasons why women are dissatisfied with their options for female care, including trust, harassment, lack of respect and operational hours. Tara Raffi, cofounder and CEO of Almond, had had enough bad experiences with traditional gynecologists, so she created a membership community for women to receive in-depth care based on their schedules, not the practitioners. It’s the first full-service, tech-enabled OB-GYN in the country." Read more about how Almond ObGyn is changing the women's healthcare game for good in this leadership and career pivot story for ForbesWomen.

Abby Johnson's story is a poignant reminder of the significant lack of dialogue on sensitive issues within families. Growing up in an environment where taboo topics are swept under the rug can profoundly impact one's beliefs and choices. As she reflects on the conversations not had during her formative years, it’s clear that silence on critical matters like abortion perpetuates misunderstanding and guilt. But there's hope and action we can take! Here’s the big prediction: We're beginning to see a cultural shift. People are increasingly willing to discuss the toughest topics openly, especially with the younger generation. In this shifting landscape: - Education will start at home, where parents will empower their children with knowledge and empathy. - Society will demand transparency and authenticity in discussions around life choices. - Support systems like Focus on the Family’s Option Ultrasound program will continue to expand, thanks to generous contributions. Programs equipping pregnancy medical clinics with ultrasound technology and specialized training are pivotal. When a mother hears her baby's heartbeat or sees a real-time image, it personalizes the experience and often leads to life-affirming decisions. This prediction, if it holds true, could mean a generational transformation in how we handle these vital conversations. Seeing the positive changes rooted in initiatives like these, there's an undeniable momentum towards education, awareness, and choice. 🎙️ Listen to Abby Johnson's full program here: [Listen to the Full Program](https://lnkd.in/dbKRPmKh) 🌟 Your gifts and support can double the impact: [Support Option Ultrasound](https://lnkd.in/dAKQd2Fe) 📢 Have feedback on their podcasts? Women dread pelvic exams and have for almost 200 years since the speculum was invented in 1845. The reason for this is simple: speculums are tremendously uncomfortable, particularly in the hands of an inexperienced physician. Companies have tried for years to design a more humane speculum with mixed results. Only recently have innovators and inventors pushed back and asked: Why don’t we try something entirely different? There are plenty more examples. Femtech entrepreneurs—buoyed by technology—have decided that many medical solutions must be completely reimagined, not just redesigned. Part of the problem is systemic inequities and healthcare’s resistance to change, even though women are the biggest consumers of health and wellness solutions in the U.S., spending billions more than men annually. As a result of the current shortcomings in women’s healthcare and a burgeoning demand, a new generation of designers and technologists is taking the initiative. Femtech has enormous potential to improve women’s health outcomes and overcome persistent socioeconomic and geographical barriers that inhibit access to health care. Here are three ways femtech—powered by ingenious design—is revolutionizing health care. https://buff.ly/4e36ffN #womenshealth #femtech #healthtech #digitalhealth #healthcare #healthcareinnovation #startups #innovation #health #medtech #healthcareresearch #femalehealth #genderhealthgap #reproductivehealth #venturecapital #vc #funding #investment #grants #maternalhealth #periods #menstruation #sexualhealth #sextech #menopause #fertility #pregnancy #postpartum #eggfreezing #IVF #healthequity #pelvicfloor #pelvicfloorhealth #hormonehealth
