What are you doing to make your association the place your members have to be? You want them to stay with your association throughout their careers. After all, engagement and retention are what fuel your association’s long-term sustainability and growth. Ever have one of those weeks where you dig through old projects and BAM! Your passion reignites brighter than a firefly convention? Yeah, that just happened to me! Unearthing some past gems reminded me why I love this field so much – it's where medical mysteries meet furry (or feathery, or scaly!) detectives. The journey's been a wild ride! Clinical case presentation of a dog with a skin condition who went full-on ninja with fly-biting and surface licking (Spoiler alert: it was fascinating!) Or how about that deep dive into dog-owner relationships and telehealth use? (Turns out, a strong bond might just be the best medicine!). Fast forward to 2021, and I'm presenting a pilot study on predicting horse aggression through YouTube videos (yep, you read that right!).These projects, along with a Master's degree almost landed me "Master Student of the Year" (whoop whoop!), which really fueled my research fire. Even though funding kept me from presenting at the European Veterinary College of Behaviour Medicine and Animal Welfare Congress on some other cool behaviour case studies, it just solidified my mission: research and clinical practice, gotta have them both! These experiences are the happy tail wags in my career story, and I can't wait to see where this amazing field takes me next. So, I urge all of you to nominate those incredible undergraduate and postgraduate students who are making waves in veterinary medicine. Let's celebrate their hard work, fuel their confidence, and pave the way for their success stories! Nomination deadline by the end of this month: https://lnkd.in/eg7DVDZD #vetmed #animalbehavior #research #clinicalpractice #passionproject

🦐 🎣 #seafoodindustry connections - I've just emerged from the Science Based Targets Network's webinar announcing the launch of their pilot for #Oceans targets, and the marine part of my brain is fizzing! At Biodiversify we're coming towards the end of the #sciencebasedtargets #fornature pilots through which we've been supporting Kering and Holcim, with a focus thus far on Land and Freshwater. Although the process hasn't been without its challenges, what HAS emerged clearly is the ability to establish your company as a leader in the #naturepositive space, as well as a genuine opportunity to shape and improve #SBTN at a critical, formative stage. SBTN can also provide a lens through which your company's existing efforts on nature can be drawn together. With the seafood world fairly advanced in its existing efforts, it will be an interesting experiment to draw these under the SBTN lens and bring them into concise targets. There is also an important opportunity to consider data sources that may typically be missed, e.g. local and #indigenousknowledge, through the target-setting process. SBTN will only accept 3 (!) lucky companies to the pilot, with applications closing on 7 Mar and the pilot running from March-July. So who is going to try their luck?! What questions remain for you? And if you don't plan to apply, what's holding you back? 👇
