✅ CIArb MARK OF APPROVAL ✅ This is #trivial to some, especially when one is #inducted as a #fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) where the branch will welcome your admission with this little pin of #comaradarie for being the FCIArb, the highest accolade bestowed upon a member of the institute. But, it is not always the case, for some FCIArb members. The reasons are best known to the respective branches, but then again: 👉🏻 after waiting for 6 months from the branch with no one replying to your email; 👉🏻 after speaking to the new Chair of the Branch, the answer is, “I am still to decide what to do with the pin”, “although I had read your email”; 👉🏻 my persistence paid off, when I wrote to CIArb UK. The institute send a representative over with freshly minted pin all the way from the UK for me. This I thank you, from the bottom of my heart. 🙏🏻 👉🏻 I am truly humbled by the efforts CIArb has shown to me and indebted just for this little ‘pin’. But … very little people is aware of about what this little pin is all about: 👉🏻 to some, it is a ‘commodity of power’ to permanently sealed one’s authority in the organisation perpetually when it can be exchanged for something perhaps liked a “vote”? 👉🏻 for me, it is a genuine gesture of the institute to take everyone who have obtained the highest grade of its membership with equal treatment and equal dignity, as what it has state, during your Fellowship peer interview as an informal ‘ambassador’ for the CIArb. 👉🏻 I am happy that I do not have to wait for perpetuity for this pin to come my way, as the branch did request me to wait perhaps for another ‘year’ to come. “Perhaps” is the operative word 😅 As such, perhaps this pin will also be the “force of change” to overhaul the branch for a better service to its members. Afterall, we are all “ambassadors” for the CIArb, aren’t we? 🤣🤣🤣 John Bassie and Catherine Dixon , do you agree with me? 😉

I will be unpacking high school teacher well-being in Namibia Is there a link between well-being, teacher performance and turnover intention (teachers wanting to leave the profession)? I strongly believe that if the teacher feels and functions well, their performance will improve and they will stay. I will be sharing snippets from this conference And as always, it doesn't end there- otherwise the story is very incomplete: My students and I will be sharing the findings and interventions that could come from this with the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture. And it does NOT also end there: Post this, we will avail our time, knowledge and skills to help the schools take the findings to practice (what can they do at individual and school level). This helps students add value to the communities they come from.
