Supporting the Global Energy Transition - An Example of Knowledge Transfer from Petroleum to Geothermal As the great energy transition unfolds, bridging the knowledge gap between conventional energy roles and emerging renewable sectors becomes a critical endeavor. This shift not only underscores the need for technological adaptation but also highlights the demand for a workforce adept in the nuances of sustainable energy systems. The expansion of renewable energy fields, notably geothermal energy, brings to the forefront the necessity of equipping professionals with the skills required for this transition, addressing the skills gap that could otherwise hinder progress. Leveraging The AI Peer Assist, we facilitated knowledge transfer, specifically between Petroleum Engineers and Geothermal Production Managers. Our experience, shared at a conference in late January, showcased how the tool aids in distilling the vast expertise of petroleum professionals into actionable insights for their counterparts in geothermal energy. It provided a structured approach to identifying key thematic areas, emphasizing skill transferability while also delineating the unique requirements of geothermal production. Here's a link to the discussion using The AI Peer Assist: https://lnkd.in/enD7k8Xj For an in-depth look at this transformative process, please refer to the provided worksheet: https://lnkd.in/efS_h7Y8 #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #GeothermalEnergy #SkillTransfer #SustainableDevelopment #ProfessionalUpskilling

In a bid to fight #ClimateChange, #GreenHydrogen is fast becoming a key component in the goal for #NetZeroCarbonEmissions by 2050. The green hydrogen value chain, from renewable electricity to electrolysis (#HydrogenProduction) to end users, offers a significant opportunity to contribute towards reaching emission reduction goals. #GeothermalEnergy offers a practical albeit slightly unexplored avenue for lower-cost green (electrolytic) hydrogen production. By utilising electricity sourced from geothermal reservoirs, we can power the electrolysis process efficiently. For example, it can be facilitated through closed-loop technology, ensuring a continuous supply of baseload power necessary for electrolysis. Geothermal energy allows for the sustained generation of renewable electricity with zero carbon emissions at a capacity factor of 90% or higher. #Hydrogen and #GeothermalPower have the potential to create vast new pools of #RenewableEnergy, a lifeline for a world struggling to curtail its dependence on fossil fuels. The availability of green hydrogen unlocks numerous energy applications, spanning across industries, power generation, and transportation, including heavy-duty trucks and potentially even aircraft. Numerous government subsidies are available for green energy projects. If you're embarking on such a project and need assistance, JRG can support you with feasibility studies and subsidy applications.
