Master of Architecture Graduate (RIBA/ARB) I Freelance Illustrator I RSA John Kinross Architecture Scholar 2023
Solo Travel and Sketching On April 30th, I had the opportunity to present my travel reflections on my time in Florence to the Collections Curator, Sandy Wood and the Chair of GP, Calum Colvin, RSA. This solo journey has been a transformative experience, enriching me not just as a traveller but as a designer. During my time in Florence, I maintained a sketching journal, capturing the city's timeless beauty and intricate details. Here’s how solo travel and sketching have profoundly influenced my design journey: 1. Enhanced observation skills: Solo travel immerses me in new environments without distractions. I had the opportunity to observe details more closely, from architectural elements to everyday scenes, honing my ability to notice subtle nuances. One example is the slightly different floral patterns across the Florence Cathedral. 2. Improved Creativity: Exploring new places stimulates creative thinking. I discovered that each city in Italy has its own colour palette, which I integrated into my paintings, enriching my artistic expression and design approach. 3. Personal Reflection: Travelling alone provides invaluable time for introspection. Sketching became a meditative practice, especially when dining alone. It allowed me to reflect on my experiences and appreciate the freedom of solo dining, something women have fought for over generations. 4. Cultural Understanding: Engaging with different cultures has broadened my design perspective. Initially, I preferred to sketch buildings on their own, but after immersing myself in Italy's rich culture, I started to include people, local landmarks, symbols, and others in my sketches, adding authentic elements and narratives. 5. Emotional Expression: Solo travel, with its highs and lows, provides rich emotional content that enhances artistic expression. Throughout my travels, I've pushed myself to create self-portraits, single-line portraits, and abstract drawings to express my emotions and desires. Travel has been my greatest teacher, both as a designer and as a traveller. I've become more adaptable and creative in life, learning to appreciate the beauty in everyday moments and translating these into my work. I am incredibly grateful to The Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture for this opportunity and excited to bring these new perspectives into my future projects. Here are a few sketches from my journal that capture the essence of Florence. Next, the question is: which country should be my next solo travel destination? ✈ 🛳 #DesignJourney #Florence #Sketching #SoloTravel #RoyalScottishAcademy #CreativeGrowth

Another Man's Trash, Another Man's Treasure Reposting this inspiring post by Architecture & Design !! It's truly amazing how a few small changes can breathe new life into a space. Sometimes, the current owner might not have the immediate resources, the vision, or they might simply feel stuck in a certain era. By embracing creativity and a fresh perspective, we can unlock hidden potential in spaces that might have been overlooked. Remember, today's tip: Declutter!! Add Character. This philosophy extends beyond design—it reflects life too. Small changes can have a huge impact. Let's show empathy and inspiration in transforming both spaces and lives. ✨

Event Strategist & Auditor | Conference Host 🎤 Emcee | Public-Speaking & Leadership Coach | | Storytelling Strategy Consultant | City Marketing & Branding Adviser
Let me share a little #secret 😉 with you! Over the past 7 years or so, I may have taken well over 200,000 (professional grade) photos and short video clips...in just one #city. Not difficult to guess which one, is it? 😂 Now, why would anyone do that, you might be wondering at this point, especially when, all in all, photography is less than 5% of your working time. Well, there are at least two simple and perfectly natural explanations! 📸 Whether it's city scape, architecture or portraits, I find #photography to be wonderfully relaxing, at times inspiring and thought-provoking even. In so many different ways! When you're an #eventhost and #publicspeaking #coach professionally and spend countless hours in front of your laptop screen, or travelling to #event #conference #congress locations, having a healthy distraction, something that calms you down, helps you focus, keeps you fit 😉 and away from your computer screen for a while is absolutely essential! 🎥 It's also a fantastic, long-term #investment! Over the past decade and countless hours spent outdoors (with multiple drones and cameras in my bag), I've build a massive, incredibly diverse photography and video archive (from Kraków, but not exclusively, of course), thematically structured and thought through, so that every time I need to put together a short (yet comprehensive and diverse) #film for a client (or just for pleasure), I know I probably already have all the shots needed, to illustrate all seasons, landscapes, landmarks, architecture details, atmosphere or urban design solutions. And if you happen to be interested in #citymarketing, #storytelling strategies and sustainable #smartcities, all the better! Lastly, being a #freelancer gives you a super-important advantage, in that you don't have to adjust to the circumstances (because of your daily-job constraints) but rather go out when you feel you need it the most, when something remarkable is happening, or when the lighting conditions are perfect! How about you? What is your favourite pastime/distraction? ❤️🙂
Falling in love with Kraków feels effortless, especially during the spring, summer, and autumn seasons when the city exudes its legendary, relaxed #slowlife atmosphere, practically around the clock ⏰ A long walk after sunset 🌅 📸 around the Old Town area, 📸 the historical Jewish Quarters, 📸 along the Wisła banks, or 📸 through the city’s many parks, green areas, squares, and scenic alleys never gets boring, even if you've lived in the city for the past quarter of a century. Also, every now and then, someone can't help but scream with happiness! 😅🗣️🔊🙊😉 Lastly, it very much feels like everything’s within walking distance and if you are a #cityscape, #architecture or #portrait photographer, professional or otherwise, Kraków will truly feel like paradise on Earth!

🌊🖼️ Embracing Harmony: The Subtle Power of Seascape Photography in the Workplace Within the fast-paced rhythm of contemporary office life, where stress is a common companion, the subtle influence of seascape photography becomes an anchor of tranquillity. Beyond mere decoration, the deep blues and expansive horizons captured in these photographs foster a connection to the calming essence of the ocean. Recent studies, such as one from the Global Environmental Change, suggest that viewing images of natural water environments can significantly reduce levels of psychological stress and promote mental health. These findings align with the concept of 'blue space,' where exposure to water bodies—be it actual or visual—can enhance mood and reduce anxiety. Incorporating seascape photography into professional spaces does more than enliven the walls—it creates a serene backdrop against the daily grind, potentially improving focus and encouraging a harmonious work atmosphere. The imagery of the sea, known for its soothing properties, not only captivates the eye but also offers a mental escape to nature's own meditative space. We encourage my peers and fellow art enthusiasts to consider the serene impact such photographic art can make. As we prepare to enhance our workspaces, let's delve into how the peacefulness of seascapes can contribute to a more harmonious, productive, and mindful environment.
