Cool corporate terms we throw around, but there is so much inspiration and consideration to glean from nature and incorporate into product design and business. This past week I was inspired when walking the Oslo Opera House. It was designed to resemble an iceberg floating on the water, crafted and built with nature in mind. It provides visitors panoramic views of the City, the Oslo Fjord while walking it's marble and granite exterior. I love the fact that nature inspired this creative design and was integral in its development and construction. 1. How does nature inspire you? 2. “Caspita, everything was already written!” exclaimed Giacomo Biraghi, after Italian theater director, Gabriele Vacis, read excerpts from Invisible Cities. We were at the international city-making festival #UtopianHours in #Turin, Italy, organized by Torino Stratosferica. Although in Italo Calvino’s masterpiece book, #cities are imagined in a poetical way, there is nothing utopian about the festival, actionable suggestions to improve cities are not in short supply. Calvino, who also develops a critical vision that questions the contemporary city, left us with “two options to accept the evil or to act”, added Biraghi. He, and co-founder of the festival, Luca Ballarini, choose to act. This distinct duo wants us to move away from normatively close urban concepts and to approach ideas that a priori seem distant or foreign. Utopian Hours is not intended to be a conclusive festival, but rather it aspires, says Ballarini, to “enlarge the education of city making,” seeking to actively position ourselves as agents of change involved in the cities we inhabit, as thinking beings who imagine, invent and create the future. ▪️Maison de la Culture Bourges - France ▪️ On 10th September 2021 the new building Maisondelaculture Bourges was inaugurated. The Maison de la Culture existed since 1964 and has been an establishment in France ever since. The new building was designed by Ivars & Ballet and meet all the imposed requirements: preserving the site’s versatility, ensuring its integration into a city with a rich heritage and with a mission to welcoming people. The building was also constructed to meet the requirements of environmental sustainability to raise public awareness of preservation of biodiversity and the challenges of climate change. One of the strengths of the new building is its vitality and its mission to serve the public. The Ministry of Culture has labelled it a national stage and offers many activities to a wide range of audiences. At the same time is an artistic factory to promote its know-how throughout France as well as a hot spot for major French and European production houses. The renewed capacity engages The Maison de la culture and the artists in a revitalized relationship. The building houses several cinema rooms as well as cultural spaces and rehearsal spaces. The big spectacle hall can receive up to 685 seating spectators and the smaller hall is modular to serve a large number of seating and standing events. It is therefore equipped with a transportable modular retractable seating systems that can moved into storage and multiple configurations to create the space necessary according to the event. THE CULTURE. Hip-Hop Art transported from Chicago to the SCHIRN KUNSTHALLE FRANKFURT   62 artworks recently travelled from the USA to Germany to be part of the exhibition “THE CULTURE. Hip-Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century” at SCHIRN KUNSTHALLE FRANKFURT. THE CULTURE was organized by the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Saint Louis Art Museum and celebrates 50 years of Hip-Hop and its profound influence on contemporary art and culture in our society.   The artworks were transported from our hub in Chicago to our home base in Frankfurt more sustainably. 30% of the calculated CO2 emissions were reduced using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). A further 70% of the calculated CO2 emissions were offset through contributions to high-quality climate protection projects.   This way, we are not only looking back on 50 years of Hip-Hop, but we are also looking forward to a future oriented way of making artwork available to the public by transporting it around the globe in a more sustainable way. „It‘s been a pleasure for Lufthansa Cargo to be the logistic partner for the exhibition THE CULTURE - on a sustainable way. The Festival organized by Stratosferica captures prominent urban projects but also taps into people’s dreams to build bottom-up pressure and push the boundaries for change. The Dalton team did some amazing work in the Heritage Gallery at the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta. With such beautifully engineered automobiles in the space, it can be a daunting task to design the environmental graphics. Fortunately, our team made very smart choices to enliven the space and capture the essence of the Porsche experience. - The first collaborative decision with the client was to change the storyline from one about the "features" of Porsche automobiles to one about the "feelings" of the Porsche experience. - Next, our team made very simple, but incredibly powerful, updates to how the graphic spaces were used. From breaking up graphic panels that were previously duplicated to extending a graphic across an adjacent wall that was previously left blank. - The final touch was a complete rethinking of the gallery cards which previously featured only technical specifications and short historical notes about each automobile. Quotations from the individual owners who graciously lend their vehicles to the Heritage Gallery are now the prominently featured headlines about each automobile.
