Supporting a friend through pregnancy after loss can be such a tricky time. First and foremost, your friend is lucky to have you. The reality is, when someone has experienced a miscarriage/loss, it is virtually impossible to not feel anxious during a subsequent pregnancy. The joy of being pregnant is robbed from you in so many ways after a loss. As a result, women are understandably often highly anxious. And here's the thing. You cannot take away your friends (or your own) anxiety but you can help to soften it. There are so many unknowns about pregnancy and postpartum and I don't know anyone who isn't at least a little anxious about the journey. One of my favorite things I have heard is a friend who would check in by saying "so what fruit size are you this week"? Making things playful while also showing you care! Hormone changes that occur during pregnancy can cause blurry vision. During pregnancy, your lens may change its shape temporarily in response to the hormones which cause water retention and swelling of the lens. This lens swelling is similar to the swelling of the feet that pregnant women also experience. Having blurry vision while pregnant can be worrisome, but it’s rarely permanent. Most people’s vision returns to normal in the weeks following delivery.
