In December 2023, the FIA initiated a comprehensive karting reform: the ‘Arrive and Drive’ karting formula, which aims to eliminate economic barriers and expand participation in karting. Its model is designed to be inclusive, affordable, and accessible, providing individuals from all socio-economic backgrounds with the opportunity to experience karting. As featured on GCN, we've been collaborating with Team Visma | Lease a Bike since last year to improve our next-gen product 🐝 Working with a top-tier team that consistently aims for 1st place has taught us invaluable lessons. Through our combined data, we realized that the 2021 button unit didn’t significantly enhance Visma Lease a Bike's performance. So, we went back to the drawing board ✍️ In pro racing, preparation and adaptability are key. Pros need to trust where to press for immediate deflation or controlled inflation (1.6 bar per km). With this insight, we refined several components to create a more efficient adaptable tire pressure system. What do you think we improved? Let us know in the comments and join the Ride Better Letter here: https://lnkd.in/ejnz7Mib #GRAVAA #PrepareToAdapt #AdaptableTirePressure

In essence, the figures indicate increasing money from sponsorship and the F1 prize fund, and they demonstrate how successful elite teams can be in today’s financial landscape. The Applied Science section also contributes to the turnover figure. To remain under the cost constraint, Mercedes, like other large teams, has transferred staff and other resources away from direct engagement in the F1 program. The total income number includes sales of gearboxes and associated systems to Aston Martin and Williams. Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Ltd claimed a turnover of £474.6m for 2022, up £91.3m from the previous year’s number of £383.3m. That revenue was roughly distributed as follows: 51% for sponsorship and licensing, 30% for the F1 prize money, and 19% for other revenues, primarily from the Applied Science section.

As an engineer, *why* do you do what you do? For most, it’s about solving problems. But for many, it goes further than that. Tamara Ivancova, Founder of Amara Automotive Ltd, won three prizes at our 2022 Champion of Champions Grand Final – and joined us for this year’s event. Presenter Rob Bell caught up with her to see how she’d fared over the last 12 months since picking up those awards. She said that realising her ‘why’ has been instrumental in keeping the business on track as she focused on product validation, expanded her team and headed towards a first prototype. Tamara said: “When you start a business, the one thing you have an abundance of is advice from all types of people with all types of backgrounds – but you shouldn’t take on all of that advice." “One of the really good ways to figure out which advice you should and shouldn’t take on is to think about why you’re actually running a business. You have a business to solve a problem but what’s the reason – what’s the ‘why’? Why are you solving the problem in the first place?" “If you look at the automation industry, the current leaders are creating EVs, but their reason isn’t to actually have an impact on the environment, their reason is to maximise profit, which is why you see an increase in bigger, more powerful SUV electric vehicles to squeeze out these margins. Whereas we really care about the impact which is why we’ve approached the problem in a completely different way." “So if you know why you’re actually trying to solve that problem, that will impact your solution massively and it’s the number one thing that will keep you motivated. So, when it gets tough, when you’ve got these delays, and you’re missing deadlines, that’s the thing that will keep you going.” Hear more from Tamara about her last year and check out who scooped this year’s prizes over on YouTube https://lnkd.in/ehvXRBk8 #ChampionOfChampions #UniEnterpriseCompetitions #YoungEngineers #BusinessInnovation

🏎️🔥 Exciting times ahead as we gear up for a week of intense competition and rivalry in F1 in Schools! 🏁 Between March 11th and 15th, we will witness not one but TWO National Finals taking place simultaneously at opposite ends of the globe—in the UK and Australia. The UK National Finals will be held in Rotherham, just outside Sheffield, where the weather is expected to be a cool 12°C. Meanwhile, down under in Adelaide, South Australia, competitors will face the heat in more ways than one, with temperatures soaring to a scorching 41°C! 🔥 This stark contrast highlights the diverse conditions in which these young engineers and entrepreneurs compete and symbolizes the intensity and the fierce rivalry that defines the F1 in Schools competition. The rivalry between the UK and Australia at the F1 in Schools World Finals has always been keenly contested. With both nations holding their National Finals in the same week, we can only anticipate the competition and determination to be even more electrifying. The heat is on as every team pushes their limits to design, construct, and race their miniature F1 cars at breakneck speeds. Let's cheer for these young innovators representing the future of engineering, technology, and motorsports. As they fine-tune their designs and strategize for victory, it's not just about the fastest car; it's about teamwork, innovation, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible. For anyone interested in (really) fast-moving business, my first article in CNBC's "business of F1" series looks at whether the sport's global ambitions undermine the credibility of its Net Zero pledges... 🗓 Packing 24 races into ten months forces teams into the air to hit deadlines. 🌎 Structuring the calendar into 4 regional blocks will help, but it ignores the fact teams have to fly cars home for repairs regularly. 🇯🇵 It also brings politics into play. The Japanese GP has given up its traditional October date to fit in between the 🇦🇺 and 🇨🇳 GPs. Others are less accommodating. 🔧 So can the sport be Net Zero by 2030? Not through any logistical solutions, but if any industry can produce a technological miracle it's F1. Throughout this series I'll be looking at some of the ideas that are driving F1 and where leaders can apply them to their own business. So, give me a message if there are any questions you want answering! #Formula1 #Management #Sustainability
