"So, how's the whole going out on your own thing?" Not an uncommon question for me. Maple Creek Consulting took in its first official dollar on February 14th (thanks New Holland Group). As I approach six months into this new venture, my overwhelming feelings are as follows: 1. Gratitude. The opportunity to work with amazing people (see MCC post below) and have them trust me to handle crucial messaging/strategy/sales, etc. is humbling. Also, to be able to partner with Justin Morrow on a number of cannabis projects has been such a wonderful bonus. It's rare to collaborate on a daily basis with a friend and colleague. I'm very lucky. 2. Terror. When it's just you, you're the one running bizdev/marketing, you're executing projects, you're managing taxes, you're scouring the internet for health care plans, etc etc. It's been good for me, but I don't begrudge anyone who prefers to join a company/community where so many aspects of a business are out of sight and out of mind. 3. Sanguine. MCC may fail, it's a reality. I am okay with that! But I'm not planning on it. I'm going to work hard on behalf of my clients. I'm going to truly enjoy being my own boss (and not in the multi-level marketing bullshit way) and choose the right people and projects. Get on the plane, go shake the hand, get shit done. I'll check back in another six months at the ol' year mark, but in the meantime never hesitate to reach out if you're thinking of going out on your own. I know it can be a hard road and I'll do whatever I can to help you on the journey.
It's been a thrill to grow alongside our clientele. And since MCC's founding in February of this year, we've been honored to work with some phenomenal companies. We are grateful to each and every client - to learn more about our partners check out the newest section of our website: https://lnkd.in/gZpXFMYm

Yesterday was a reminder of the profound impact of sharing knowledge with others. Thank you, Seán Pattwell, for your kind words and for reigniting our connection after all these years. My insights are not just theories; they come from firsthand experience in building and scaling an organisation. I understand the challenges and triumphs that accompany the entrepreneurial journey. Entrepreneurship is more than a career path; it's a mindset—a commitment to innovation, resilience, and continuous learning. By sharing our knowledge and experiences, we empower others to navigate their own paths to success. It's a ripple effect, where each act of guidance and mentorship fosters growth and prosperity within our communities. Hug congratulations on the remarkable success of CW8 Communications over the past five years. Listening is often the most important thing you can do as a founder. 🎧 Yesterday I got to spend an incredible amount of time with Camilla d'Abo founder of MENAs largest independent PR & Marketing firm who was incredibly generous with her insights and advice. Her eponymous firm - which she built with her sister Lucy d'Abo - Dabo & Co was a business that was a true challenger in the Middle East when it came to Communications and Marketing in the region. It grew to an incredible scale as an SME and eventually was acquired by a larger firm. Culture was central to the firm. Although I worked with Camilla for a hot minute back in the day the company has also created countless entrepreneurs and spin off agencies, myself included, but many many others which I think is actually the true legacy of a founder. The moral of the story is once a founder always a founder it doesn’t fade away! Independent, boutique, SME, whatever you want to call it - our conversation reaffirmed that a smaller, specialist advisory firm, at the cutting edge of world affairs that is globally connected always has the right to win. 🥇 honoured to continue our own journey at CW8 Communications Colm Woods Caroline Power Cameron Wood with our stellar team of mavericks! Thank you for your openness, your knowledge and kindness. 🙏

Reflecting on the pivotal moments of decision-making in our professional lives, one must recognize that the adage 'take the road less traveled' isn't always a fit-for-all strategy. As professionals, we learn and grow by following the precedents of success, adapting them into our narrative, and thus, paving new avenues. Leveraging the collective intelligence and opportunities presented by the Global Business Opportunity Bureau ensures that the paths we tread lead to global growth and personal triumph. #brayzen

Strategic Partnership Announced between Destination Goulburn Valley and Channel 7, Shepparton Victoria. It's been a 12 month journey but today DGV and Channel 7, Shepparton Victoria came together to announce a strategic partnership that will not only benefit DGV but more importantly, their partners. 'This is an important milestone for DGV and Channel 7. Our organisations have been working together for the last 12 months, to establish a mutually beneficial partnership that will have flow on effects for our own entities along with our partner base, which is growing daily', highlighted Vicki Scott. We take an integrated marketing approach at DGV, and this partnership adds another medium when advocating on behalf of the growing visitor economy of the Goulburn Valley, our partners and the work of DGV. It enables us to amplify our messaging across digital, print, radio and now television. Sales Manager of Digital and Broadcast TV, Sally Tremellen also highlighted that partnerships take time to develop and often evolve over time. 'The enthusiasm and passion of the DGV team is hard to ignore, so we really wanted to be part of their journey'. Whilst there has been numerous conversations about how the partnership would look, we knew it would come together because our values are strongly aligned and we could see the benefits for the GV. Thanks to Team Channel 7 for joining the DGV movement, becoming part of our family. May is 'Spotlight on a Sponsor and Partner' month at DGV, so the announcement was perfect timing. Contact Executive Officer, Vicki Scott, [email protected] to arrange a conversation about how you can join the DGV movement, as they keep 'building momentum for our future'. https://lnkd.in/gbNT9pbg #collaboration #partnerships #mutualbenefit #channel7 #sponsorships #buildingmomentum #relationships #destinationgoulburnvalley #goulburnvalley #getinvolved #partnerspotlight #sponsorspotlight Eugenie Stragalinos Vicki Scott Jade Burley Hayley Collins Sally Tremellen https://lnkd.in/gJX8FPkU

I think the best companies can be measured by the friends you make when you work there. It has been amazing to catch up with former colleagues and great friends at SC Johnson and Pentland Brands. Brilliant to see Chris Scarpato, CFA and Brendan Rounds and Akers doing so well. Both business’s are great family businesses. #culture #values #familybusiness

A lot of friends have been asking me why I created United Partners Network (#UPN) - an international network of PR centric communication agencies. It’s pretty straightforward: I wanted to create massive value for our clients and to connect with some of the coolest, like-minded PR pros from all over the globe. But trust me, there’s more to it! We are gearing to help brands and companies grow and expand across different markets. UPN has a unique advantage of partnering with best in class independent communications agencies. Our network is fast, flexible, and fun. Here’s a quick rundown of what makes working with an independent agency network so special: 🔹 Localized Expertise - UPN is deeply rooted in the local markets, providing invaluable insights into cultural nuances, media landscapes, and consumer behavior. This local expertise ensures that our clients’ messaging resonates with each specific audience. 🔹 Flexibility and Agility - Unlike larger conglomerates, independent agencies can pivot and adapt strategies more quickly. This agility allows for customized approaches that are crucial for navigating the diverse challenges and opportunities in various markets. 🔹 Personalized Service - Working with an independent network often means higher levels of personal commitment and senior-level involvement in your projects. This can lead to more thoughtful strategies and a deeper understanding of our clients’ needs. 🔹 Cost-Effectiveness - Independent agencies often offer more competitive pricing structures without compromising on the quality of service. Their lean structures avoid the overhead costs typical of larger agencies, allowing more of our clients’ budget to be invested directly into impactful activities. 🔹 Innovative Thinking - Free from the constraints of a corporate parent company, independent agencies are breeding grounds for innovation. We experiment with bold, creative ideas that stand out in the market. Choosing the right partners is crucial as clients expand internationally. An independent communications agency network offers a blend of local savvy, flexibility, personalized attention, cost efficiency, and innovative thinking to help clients make meaningful connections with consumers around the world #GlobalPR #Communications #MarketingStrategy #Independent United Partners

Four years ago, this trio (Tracey Butterfield Rebecca Farnell) took our first trip to Aberdeen, marking the beginning of what has become a rewarding and lasting client partnership. And trust me, it's only for our most valued clients that I'll brave those small prop plane journeys! 😄✈️ There's a common myth that constantly switching up strategic creative partners is the key to fresh ideas. But here's the real deal: the magic happens when you stick with the right partner for the long haul. It's not just about rolling contracts; it's about honing a deep understanding of the unique challenges and aspirations of a client and tailoring ongoing strategies to resonate with these evolving needs. Through this continuous collaboration, we've become more than just familiar with the brand we manage and market – we're practically insiders. This isn't just about creating strategies; it's about crafting insights that hit the mark every time. Our role has transformed from mere service providers to trusted advisors, playing a pivotal role in their narrative of success. Here's to celebrating many more years of shared success and innovation! #ThisIsReal #AgencyLife #CreativeAgency #MarketingAgency #IntegratedAgency
