📢 Attention to all healthcare professionals and stakeholders interested in #occupationalhealth and #wellbeing. A recent study conducted by Espen Saxhaug Kristoffersen (Universitetet i Oslo (UiO)) and team sheds light on a crucial aspect of #nursing work: the impact of work schedule changes on #headache frequency. 🔍 The study, titled "Changes in work schedule affect headache frequency among Norwegian nurses: a 3-year-follow-up study," delves into the correlation between #shiftwork, #nightwork, and headache occurrences among 1104 Norwegian nurses over a period of three years. 📊 Key Findings: Nurses who transitioned away from night work experienced a significant reduction in headache frequency. Decreasing the number of night shifts and #quickreturns (less than 11 hours between shifts) also correlated with lower odds of experiencing headaches. Remarkably, a decrease in the number of night shifts showed promise in preventing the onset of new headaches. 💡 Implications: These findings underscore the importance of considering work schedules in healthcare settings, particularly in mitigating adverse health outcomes like headaches among nursing professionals. 📚 For those interested in delving into the details, you can find the full paper here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eDqYsQt4 #Healthcare #OccupationalHealth #WorkingTime #ResearchInsights

How to Win the Heart of a Nurse It's my favorite time of the year! With World Nurses Day from May 6-12, I'm filled with excitement and appreciation for all the hard work nurses do. Here's a list of things you can do to show your gratitude and perhaps even win the heart of a nurse: - **Take a Nurse Out**: Treat them to a nice dinner or a fun outing. A simple gesture like this can make a big difference. - **Offer a Learning Opportunity**: Consider purchasing a course or workshop to help them advance in their career or explore new interests. - **Book a Pedicure**: A relaxing pedicure or spa treatment can be a great way to help them unwind. - **Give Thoughtful Gifts**: Consider gifting something that aligns with their interests, whether it's a book, a piece of jewelry, or a personalized item. - **For Nurses on Their Day Off**: Use this time to treat yourself. Enjoy a day of self-care, pamper your skin, and do something that brings you joy. As you celebrate this special week, don't forget to tag a nurse you know and wish them a Happy Nurses Week. Thank them for their dedication and hard work, and let them know how much they are appreciated!

Reflecting on the profound impact we have on others can lead to a transformative journey of self-discovery. It is often astonishing how far-reaching our actions can be, even when we are unaware of their true effects. I vividly remember the moment when Ify, a compassionate new graduate nurse, presented me with a beautifully crafted plaque. Now, it proudly adorns the wall of my office, constantly reminding me of the meaningful connections we create through our actions. I urge you to take a moment today to deeply contemplate the potential influence of your words and deeds on those around you. Let us embrace this heightened awareness as a catalyst for nurturing warmth, especially for new nurses, positivity, and empathy in all our daily interactions. #SelfReflection #ImpactUnknown #SpreadPositivity

HAPPY NURSES' WEEK A poem for you, because you are part of an elite TEAM A quick explanation why you are so supreme Some days may be quiet and some days may be slow, While many days you wonder – where did the time go? You work tirelessly for your patients even when they are feeling crappy You go the extra mile just to help make them happy You may find that you’re putting your own needs last So you can always get help to your patients fast You’re appreciated more than you may know And here’s hoping this poem will show You’re the cream of the crop Because you care non-stop. So, here's a “sweet” Candy Recipe for a great Nurses’ Week and a few things to get you through the days to show you’re appreciated in every way: · Hugs and Kisses - because you deserve them all · Snicker - to remind you that laughter can be the very best medicine · Lifesavers - A reminder of the many times you were a real life saver · Lollipop – to help you “lick” any obstacles that may come your way · Tootsie Roll – to help you roll with the punches · Starburst – for the days or nights you need that extra burst of energy · Mint – because your compassion towards others is always worth a mint.

🚶♀️ ☕ A nurse's morning routine isn't just about sipping coffee and rushing through tasks. It's a time for reflection, exercise, and nourishment—essential elements that replenish their physical, mental, and emotional reserves. By taking these deliberate steps, nurses fortify themselves for the demanding shifts ahead, enabling them to provide unwavering care and empathy to their patients. So, after your shift, sit down and think about what would make your morning routine the most beneficial to the rest of your day. At EARN, we understand that building routines can be taxing. We want you to excel at nursing, find your optimal position, and change the lives of the people you serve. If you're interested in finding a new position, updating your resume, or connecting with other nurses in your area, go to our website earncares.com
