Awesome! -- Tourists in Saudi Arabia will be able to book trips to the earth’s stratosphere in 2026. A trip to the second layer of earth’s atmosphere will cost $164,000 (Dh602,000) per person. Halo space company, a Madrid based company founded in 2021 that provides trips to outer space, has chosen the Kingdom to be one of its departure places and is planning a test flight in June. Halo Space has received conditional approval from the Saudi regulator, the Communications, Space & Technology Commission, for its test flight. The spacecraft in question is an aerospace balloon equipped with a pressurized capsule capable of accommodating eight passengers and a pilot. This capsule will feature panoramic windows, providing passengers with a stunning 360-degree view of Earth. Halo space has a target to start commercial flights in 2026 and to operate 400 commercial flights a year starting 2029. The flight would be approximately four to six hours with one to two hours of maximum altitude and with clear vision of the earth’s blue curvature. “Because the helium balloon-powered ascent is gradual, there is no heavy acceleration or G-forces, meaning nearly anyone can board a Halo flight without the need for special training,” the company said in a statement. #spacetravel #spaceinnovation #spaceeconomy #spacetech #halo #ksa

He was speaking specially in the way of space travel, but one cannot help but interpret for application to divergent domains. Beyond purely escape velocities - the domain of space travel. The learnings: Resist over controlling. Resist perfection and so pushing launch out too far. Iterate fast - ensure tighter feedback loops. As opposed covering all bases and aiming for absolutes - perhaps even invest in the escape mechanism/ divestment. Goes without saying that we need to understand single point failures and whether such failures will lead to unacceptable fallout e.g. the loss of life as opposed the loss of some unit of economy. With due consideration for unintended consequences and 2nd, 3rd order impacts etc. get into ‘flight’ sooner than later. You can learn some things on the ground but for others you’ve got to get to jump-off.

Space tourism will begin in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next year, as reported by The News. According to a Gulf newspaper, Kemel Kharbachi, the founder and CEO of European space company EOS-X Space, announced that space flights will start in Abu Dhabi and Spain around the third quarter of 2025. EOS-X SPACE is developing the Spaceship One manned capsules and plans to conduct essential validation tests with military pilots in collaboration with Spain’s National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA). These pressurized capsules can hold up to eight people, including a pilot, and are lifted by an eco-friendly helium balloon. The capsules will reach the edge of the stratosphere at an altitude of 40,000 meters, providing space tourists with stunning views of space, the blue halo, and Earth’s curvature during a five-hour trip. This contrasts with Blue Origin’s 11-minute rocket flight. #SpaceTourism #UAE #EOSXSpace #SpaceFlights #AbuDhabi #Spain #SpaceTravel #Stratosphere #SpaceExploration #FutureOfTravel #SpaceCapsules #INAT #SustainableTravel #Cohortmax

Time to talk commercial space launch 🚀 & recovery operations at #ASW24! Interesting panel discussions at #AirspaceWorld with Dragos Tonea, our Head of iNEO – Integration of New Entrants in European ATM Network Operations - joined by fellow experts from NATS, ICAO, NASA, FAA and Airspace Innovation! 🚀 🏢 In Europe there are already over 24 spaceports designated or in the pipeline, with others to follow into licensed operations in the coming years. #NM, the EUROCONTROL Network Manager, has the capability to manage launches from locations in, or impacting, the NM area. But increasing space operations 🚀 in the years to come may require airspace reservation & other processes to be adapted to reduce any disruption to commercial air traffic ✈️ - as well as to ensure the highest levels of safety are maintained in the network. Also discussed in the panel: 📌 the evolving needs of airspace users & new entrants in higher altitudes 📌 the challenge of safely improving the operational interfaces between space & global aviation systems. #aviation #space #EuropeForAviation
