Today is the UN's World Day of Social Justice — a core value for us. RTM aims to narrow the attainment gap for creative education. We do this by identifying state schools in areas of high socio-economic deprivation, and providing them the funding to buy diverse and relevant musical instruments. This creates a positive environment where the music department becomes an energy centre — transforming the school and with it young people’s futures. #WorldDayofSocialJustice

The UK's cultural landscape could benefit greatly from learning how the arts are made affordable in Europe. From theatre tickets to museum entries, our European counterparts seem to support the younger members of society better. I completely agree and support the ideas in this article. Receiving and producing houses should focus more on GCSE and A Level set texts, and preferably present these titles at a useful time of year (during exam season is not helpful!). Additionally, providing a recording where possible could be very valuable. #artseducation https://lnkd.in/dpTHg8MG?

The Texas A&M School of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts will add a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre starting in the fall semester. The major was recently approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Rayna Dexter, instructional associate professor and acting program director for Theatre, said the major will prepare students to create and produce theatrical works. This covers three key areas: performance, which includes acting, voice and directing courses; design and production; and arts administration and community engagement. The major differs from traditional programs with its focus on making new and original works, Dexter said. It doesn’t exclude scripted work and dramatic literature, but encourages students to think differently about building a theatrical performance. “If you’re going to create a new degree in Texas, it needs to be different from the other degrees available,” she said. “And no one else in the state is doing this. In fact, this is the only program of its kind at a public university in the United States at the undergraduate level.” Read more: tx.ag/theatreDegree

Father | Founder of Broadway Drumming 101 | Drummer for The Hippest Trip-The Soul Train Musical | Thought-Provoker
Picture a college professor using complex sentences and obscure words to convey a point; "In the pursuit of achieving percussive excellence upon the grand stages of Broadway, an aspirant must cultivate not only a profound technical proficiency across a diverse array of rhythmic patterns but also an intuitive grasp of the symbiotic relationship between percussive elements and the theatrical narrative, thereby facilitating an auditory experience that both complements and enhances the visual spectacle and resonates with the audience on a visceral level." While they might sound intelligent, not everyone will be able to comprehend what they're trying to convey. https://lnkd.in/ds72f3eW

#ArtIntegration #curriculum If a school has a music, art, drama, or dance teacher, their approach is most likely and primarily Arts as Curriculum. Students develop knowledge and skills in a particular art form. Often referred to as “arts learning” or “art for art’s sake,” the programs are guided by national, state, or local standards for each of the art forms. For example, in visual arts, students learn the content, processes, and techniques for two- or three-dimensional work. They learn how the visual arts developed and changed throughout history, and engage in creating and analyzing works created in a variety of media. CBSE Capacity building program

Experienced Leading Teacher, Learning Specialist, Head of Performing Arts, Production Manager, Educator, Director, Producer and Performer
Cultivating a culture centred around school productions entails more than merely staging a musical; it involves nurturing a sense of community. We encountered a situation recently where we had to make the tough decision of postponing our 2023 production due to a significant injury sustained by our lead male performer. This delay had substantial repercussions throughout our school. However, as the situation settled and new dates were arranged, our students began to comprehend the rationale behind not rushing to stage the production. During this time, our students gained an appreciation for the significance of prioritising safety in performance practices. They developed an understanding of the well-being that thrives within our performing arts community. Establishing a culture of safe performance practices is crucial for students' development. Without this awareness, students might take uninformed risks on stage, such as standing on unsecured wheeled tables or pushing through vocal injuries. Being educators in the performing arts, it is of utmost importance that we nurture a culture placing safety and growth at the forefront. This, in turn, contributes to the cultivation of a stronger sense of community, where the well-being of individuals is recognised as a vital component within the creative process. 2022 Production of The SpongeBob Musical
