That’s what drove our discussions at the ICOM 2024 World Meeting in Madrid. As one of more than 80 independent marketing agencies in the ICOM Network, FARM joined our global partners to explore how agencies can bring greater value to our client partners and our people.
We also won third place in ICOM’s annual Bright Business Ideas competition for our successful launch of the employee recognition program, Hey Taco. (Although “Hey Tapas” would have better suited the location.)

We've been down in London this week immersing ourselves in ideas and inspiration, and we can't wait to get stuck in and start delivering some of them for our clients this year! We've come away buzzing with ideas about what's possible and totally amazed by the talent and skills in our brilliant industry.
We spoke about everything from ground-breaking technology to crazy feature builders, wow-factor venues, and those little touches that make an event really memorable. We also touched on where the industry is headed, and we were impressed to see sustainability as one of the key themes for the event this year too. Attending IMEX last week was awesome however, been part of the Future Leaders Forum was extra special as I had the chance to connect with new generations eager to enter the complex but equally fascinating world of events! I got many learnings throughout the show, but herewith my top 5:
1. THE POWER OF PHYSICAL CONNECTIONS: in a post-pandemic era, witnessing how much this is valued from both, clients and suppliers alike is positively overwhelming!
2. APPS, DIGI-TOOLS, A.I. AND BEYOND: Yep “evenTech” is here to stay and help but not to replace human creativity and that magic that any event needs, just remember one thing…who needs to feed and manage all those ultra-techy tools?
3. SUSTAINABILITY IS NOT A CHOICE: Producing all our events environmentally friendly is a responsibility and not a trend anymore…yes let’s get rid of tons of useless SWAG still circulating around
4. EDUTAIMENT: few years ago everybody talked about gamification to make sessions more “fun”, now is all about “educating while entertaining” another buzzword which makes total sense: shorter, interactive, instructive and innovative presentations!
5. DIVERSITY, EQUALITY AND INCLUSIVITY IS KEY: while our industry is rapidly recovering, financially speaking, same speed is no applicable for DEI implementation. We all, from planners to venues to exhibitors, have more work to do to ensure our sector becomes increasingly inclusive, diverse and safer for all of us.
Looking forward to "bring it back/sing it back" all this in 2025!
