Yesterday, I spoke to over 200 Queens at the Queen's Gala & Expo on women's leadership development through mentorship. I strongly believe that Mentorship & role modeling can be strategic tools in leadership development if leveraged well, more so in the agenda of women leadership development. Just got back from my third year facilitating Capital One's Hispanic Leadership Development Program (HLDP), and wow, the commitment to uplifting Latino leaders in such a big-name company setting is just incredible. This 6-month journey we take together is designed to elevate around 20 Latino managers each year through one-on-one coaching, group discussions, and both hybrid and in-person sessions - giving these amazing leaders tools for their career advancement. The video below is the result: As part of our last session, participants stood and delivered 60-90 second stories, crafted to clearly encapsulate their professional journey and ambitions. This experience reaffirms that leadership at top companies is evolving. There is a growing space for diverse leadership, and the talents and perspectives of Latino professionals are increasingly valued and celebrated. I'm honored to contribute to this transformation, witnessing firsthand the growth of these leaders and Capital One's dedication to inclusive leadership. Practice makes progress. I had the privilege of attending BoostHer at Gosford RSL Club last week, featuring leadership development specialist Suzy Miller. Having participated in Suzy's coaching programs in the past as both a mentee and mentor for regional women, I can attest to the value of her content and delivery. Suzy provided a glimpse into her Women's Leadership Development Program, focusing on enhancing leadership and economic development for women in regional Australia. Suzy shared invaluable strategies for women in the workplace, offering guidance on overcoming challenges and leveraging strengths. Her insights left me with valuable takeaways: -         Embrace mistakes as opportunities for learning and growth. -         Take small steps outside your comfort zone to build confidence. -         Assess whether the risk of inaction outweighs the risk of taking action. -         Focus on what you can control or influence. -         Prioritise purposeful communication for effective influence and impact. These insights remind us that practice leads to progress. I'm grateful for the actionable insights gained from BoostHer and look forward to implementing them in my personal and professional journey.
