We just saw Game 162 play out on Sunday in #MLB and I already find myself missing it. Sure, the Postseason™ is upon us (and my Cubs didn't quite make it), but there's something special about the regular season. I especially love #MinorLeagueBaseball because that's where I cut my teeth in the sports industry. It's also where I think creators like me can have the most fun. Below is an example of a live, interactive activation tied into a promotional night at the ballpark, specifically Video Game Knight for the Charlotte Knights in 2017. I just love video games and video game lore. That year, my friend Jon Cofer and the Pittsburgh Pirates began a new trend: turning their right field LED display into an interactive gaming area for live contests. Super Mario Run™ in Pittsburgh inspired the same in Frisco with the RoughRiders and inspired The Legend of Zelda™ (Homer) in Charlotte. I overlayed the view from the team's primary LED display in left-center field so you can see all the elements combined into one presentation. Hands down, this is one of my favorite activations for any corporate partner in my 16 years in sports. Lots of moving parts go into elements like this (Photoshop, After Effects), but fans and partners alike appreciate the effort. ....Again, sorry (not sorry) to the umpires and coaches that night who couldn't get the players to stop staring at the right field wall instead of preparing for the next inning. 😅 Interested in executing something similar at your ballpark, arena or stadium?
