Hot on the heels of The Academy of Medical Sciences' disturbing findings on worsening child health, it's good to see coverage of HPIG's report on Integrated Care Systems and the needs of babies, children and young people in National Health Executive today. We found some good practice in ICS strategies and plans, but more integration with education and children's services and greater clarity on leadership and accountability needed.
More national support is needed to eliminate inconsistent planning. Find out more → https://lnkd.in/e4fPAKvY National Children's Bureau Amanda Allard Matthew Dodd #ChildrenAndYoungPeople #ICSs #IntegratedCare

This is a fabulous idea!!! 👏👏👏 Relationships/culture require 3 things to foster healthy interactions and belongingness: positive emotions, time together, and the opportunity to share and be seen. What this cartoon does is give the excuse for proximity and interaction room! Without that opportunity to connect, the other two requirements can’t happen! When are the times and what are the ways you can spend some time with the people in your organization?
I love supporting the frontline staff in our hospital. This is our care cart. Simple snacks provide an opportunity for the chaplain to connect and provide affirmation, a listening ear and a prayer. #ketteringhealth #support #chaplain

I support the The New Garden Society that creates prison gardens for the health and wellbeing of incarcerated individuals with the help of incarcerated individuals. Join me! Donate here: https://lnkd.in/eJQ2KB9Y Incarcerated individuals eat some of the worst institutional food, and it affects not only them but their communities: "The mere experience of incarceration leaves an indelible imprint on the health of an individual. The average time spent in a prison is 29 months according to a 2016 Prison Policy Initiative study—ample time for daily consumption of nutrient-poor, high-calorie diets to leave lasting impacts on cholesterol levels and body fat, as it takes only four weeks for diet to impact these metrics long term. Thus, the health impacts of diet sustained within the walls of the carceral system are carried back into communities, where they impose a financial burden on already stretched-thin local, urban health systems." The recent release of the "Children in care: complaints to the Ombudsman 2019–2023" report highlighted the harmful effects of Oranga Tamariki Care and Protection residences on young people. My article in The Conversation explores the urgent question; what is the purpose of Oranga Tamariki Care and Protection residences? A place to "care" for and "protect" some of the most vulnerable young people in Aotearoa, or a place of containment and punishment? I have been working with VOYCE - Whakarongo Mai, Clive Aspin and Ema Tokolahi over the past number of years developing research which highlights the stories of care experienced youth and advocates for the systemic implementation of a trauma-informed model of care across Oranga Tamariki Care and Protection residences to address the complex needs of youth in care. The time for transformative action to change the Oranga Tamariki Care and Protection system is now. Our young people deserve more. (https://lnkd.in/gA4cfwqD)

Reflecting after watching the debate: our efforts should be in prioritizing the establishment of additional treatment centers and allocating resources to aid addicts. It is essential to address the underlying issue. By extending our support to those in need, we can strengthen our communities. 💪❤️ #AddictionSolutions #CommunitySupport"
