🌟 From Earth to Gold Dust: The Transformation of Drying Turmeric 🌟 Dried turmeric is a versatile spice with many culinary and health uses and a valuable addition to any spice rack. 🌞 After curing the turmeric is dried to reduce the moisture content 🌞 The cooked fingers are dried in the sun by spreading them in 5-7 cm thick layers on bamboo mats or drying floors. 🌞 The rhizomes should be covered or stacked with material that allows ventilation at night. 🌞 It may take 10-15 days for the rhizomes to become completely dry. 🌞 Artificial drying can also be used, which uses cross-flow hot air at a maximum temperature of 60°C. 🌞 Artificial drying, compared to sun drying, which sometimes results in surface bleaching, produces a product with a brighter colour when it comes to sliced turmeric. 🌞 The yield of the dried product ranges from 10 to 30 % based on the crop's variety and growing environment. The importance of the Drying Process is as follows: 👉 Preservation 👉 Quality: Proper drying techniques help retain the valuable curcuminoids 👉 Flavour and Aroma: Drying concentrates the flavours and aromas of turmeric, making the dried spice more potent than fresh turmeric. 👉 Marketability: Dried turmeric is the most common form of turmeric traded globally. #krishikan #farmersfirst #turmeric #drying #processing #moisturecontrol #quality #curcumin #sustainability #agriculture #farming Raj Kancham Vivek Radhakrishnan

THIS ⬇️ is why we don’t recommend dryer sheets! Dryer sheets are LOADED with harsh chemicals and a wax that builds up on the screen which restricts airflow. You can see the difference as the lower right corner has been cleaned and is see through. 🚫 #protip - Switch to our 100% organic New Zealand sheep’s wool dryer balls that are complimentary with your next cleaning. #dryerventcleaning #DryerVentWizard #Neighborly #hometips #laundrytips

"What is the difference between green tea and matcha?" Although they both come from the same Camellia sinensis plant, the main difference is how it it gets grown and processed. Green tea's variables aren't heavily controlled and regulated versus that of matcha. When growing Camellia sinensis for matcha, farmers grow the plant at the end of harvest and also in the shade! After removing stems and veins, the leaves are then ground to make matcha powder. Green tea leaves are just rolled and dried! #matcha #greentea #differences

Off-color, Blue bananas may indicate that they are unripe or potentially spoiled, as they have yet to undergo the natural ripening process that turns bananas yellow. In some cases, blue discoloration in bananas could also be a sign of fungal or bacterial growth, making them unsafe for consumption. While regular yellow bananas are ripe and safe to eat, blue bananas may indicate that they are not suitable for consumption due to being unripe, spoiled, or contaminated. While your "Blue Bananas" do not suffer the same as above, they may cause you to lose business and be exposed to sizeable financial penalties for poor color quality. Visit Advanced Color Technologies, Inc. at Stand #S31192 during NPE, and let us show you how to ensure you do not produce "Blue Bananas."

#Saffron #Waste: A Treasure Carelessly Discarded Application of saffron over the years has been limited to the #foodindustry, #textile and #pharmacological purposes. After removing the #stigmas, the saffron #flower is usually considered waste. Studies indicated the potential of saffron waste in #cosmetic, #fragrance and #flavoring #markets. As saffron #petal is cheaper and produced in large amounts compared to saffron stigma, it can be considered an appropriate source for different purposes. Here are listed some. 1) #Natural #Flavor: Argento et al. (2010) investigated the composition of the hydro-alcoholic extract of #saffrondried #flowers. They identified 17 different flavonoids. As an example, significant overlapping in saffron flowers GC profile with commercial #cocoa powder aroma and #Honeylike flavor were observed. 2) #Natural #Color: Mortazavi et al. (2012) investigated the use of saffron petals in the coloring of wool fibers. They found that #varied #hues from light yellow to light brown were obtained from saffron petals and suggested that saffron petals can be a good natural colorant for dyeing. Natural edible colorant is not only #environmental #friendly but is also believed to have #anticancer and #antiviral effects as well as other #healthbenefits. 3) #Green #Adsorbent: To enhance the #profitability and #sustainability of crop waste, a facile green method was introduced to synthesize zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) using saffron leaf extract as a stabilizing agent for #wastewater #treatment applications. More detailed information can be found in the reports of Rahaiee et al., 2020. Saffron petals are considered #agricultural #wastes. Processing and using the huge amount of petals that are thrown away can open a new window for the #saffron #market. What is your experience of using saffron petals? Did you ever consider it a golden waste ;) or just away waste!? Many thanks to #MahdiRafati and Dr. #FarnoushFallahpour for collecting such informative data.
