INVESTING IN AMERICA: Biden-Harris Administration Announces Major Airport Investments Amid Record-Breaking Air Travel Season Monday, July 1, 2024. WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is announcing a seventh round of Airport Infrastructure Grants (AIG) totaling $289 million to 129 airports across 40 states, improving the safety and efficiency of air travel. The projects are funded under President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s AIG program, part of the $25 billion in total funding for airport improvements such as terminal expansions, baggage system upgrades, runway safety enhancements, and air traffic infrastructure improvements.  “Americans are flying in record numbers, and the Biden-Harris Administration continues to invest in our airports to make travel safer and more convenient for the people who pass through these airports each day,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “This latest round of funding will support key improvements to terminals, runways, and baggage systems and build on the work this Administration is doing to modernize our aviation infrastructure.” https://lnkd.in/evY6s7wu July 1, 2024.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is awarding $970 million from President Biden’s Bipartisan Investing in America agenda to 114 airports across the country, spanning 44 states and three territories. The funding helps meet the growing demand for air travel and launches projects that will improve passenger experience, accessibility, and sustainability while creating good-paying jobs. Investments enhancing the passenger experience include new baggage systems, larger security checkpoints, increasing gate capacity, and modernizing aging infrastructure throughout terminals and ground transportation. These investments further increase terminal sustainability and improve accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Nine grants will address the needs of aging air traffic control towers. Several grants contain an element that will go to improving airport access in smaller communities. Among them include: $10 million to Punta Gorda Airport in Florida   $6.5 million to Presque Isle International Airport in Maine  $700,000 to Standing Rock Airport in Fort Yates, North Dakota

SUSTAINABILITY: Federal Aviation Administration awards US$2.5m to Ontario International Airport to increase #sustainability The money is through FAA’s Voluntary Airport Low-Emission (#VALE) Program and will be used to replace 22 pre-conditioned air (PCA) units – external heating, cooling and dehumidifying devices that control temperatures and keep jetways and #planes comfortable when #aircraft are parked at the gate. Alan Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority board of commissioners, said, “We are deeply appreciative to the FAA and to Congresswoman Norma Torres, who has played such a critical role in securing funding for ONT as we meet the needs of this dynamic region we serve. WASHINGTON — Today, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration announced $1.9 billion for 519 #grants in 48 states, Guam, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, in its fifth announcement under the Airport Improvement Program (#AIP). An additional $269 million was also announced in FY 2023 Supplemental Discretionary Grants to fund 62 projects at 56 U.S. airports.
