Over the past decade, we’ve supported young people from low-income backgrounds to succeed in the workplace, through employability skills training, career guidance and paid work experience. 🤔 Did you know? During this time, we’ve operated in 19 locations to tackle the specific barriers young people face and to address the needs of employers in each region. We are committed to bringing young people and employers together, to help ensure all young people eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) can unlock their potential. If you too are committed to influencing positive change, you can volunteer, fundraise, collaborate and advocate: https://lnkd.in/etD2vFsB #DecadeOfImpact #Anniversary

I'm really proud and delighted to shout out that I serve as a trustee of this wonderful charity. Check it out. https://lnkd.in/exk3VjB8 If you have work experience /intership or career opportunities in your company/organisation, please contact Deborah. If you want to support our charity with a donation - contact Deborah! The truth is that most of the people reading this post will not have experienced the difficulties a young person coming from a disadvantaged background experiences in getting on the career ladder. A school or college student from a disadvantaged background is less likely to be aware of or know how to access prestigious professions and career opportunities than those from a better-off background. Only 6.1% of entrants to leading English universities are from low-participation areas. Graduates from disadvantaged backgrounds are also less likely to gain access to prestigious professions or career opportunities, or be promoted within them. On the other side of this divide, organisations strive to improve their equality, diversity and inclusion but are unable to gain access to the relevant young people.

Tunde Onakoya has shown us that there is dignity in not only thinking about oneself, rather in living a life to help others. It is that time of the year again where we call unto young minds with the heart to contribute to development in their communities #Volunteering always begins in the heart before extending to the hands and legs (and maybe purse😀) But one thing is certain, volunteering is the only way to build our communities, contribute to the betterment of the lives of those around us especially indigent and underserved children and communities. From personal experience, I have come to see that volunteering does not only benefit others, there’s an unending outline of benefits it portends even to the volunteer themselves. From career develop, access to mentors, CV boost, traveling opportunities to scholarship opportunities et ce tera. Yattiyr Scholarship Initiative is a registered youth-led Non Governmental Organization with the vision to proffer access to quality education for indigent children and communities, participate in community building and contribute to all aspects of life. If this aligns with your personal mission, your skill, expertise, experience and passion would be greatly relevant in the organization as we look to achieving a common goal. Dear Graduate bridging the Gap in Community Support In today's fast-paced world, it's easy for young graduates to get caught up in the pursuit of personal success, often leaving behind the communities that shaped them. However, it's crucial to recognize the importance of giving back and uplifting others who are in need, especially within one's own community. It's a common phenomenon for youths to distance themselves from their communities and families after graduation. This detachment can stem from various factors, including the pursuit of career opportunities in different locations, the desire for independence, or simply the demands of modern life. However, this disconnection can have adverse effects not only on the individual but also on the community as a whole. Communities thrive when there is a sense of unity, support, and collaboration among its members. When young people choose to disconnect from their roots, it creates a void that can lead to social isolation, economic disparity, and a lack of cohesion within the community. Moreover, it overlooks the invaluable support system that helped shape their journey to success. One of the most effective ways to address this issue is by encouraging youth to actively engage with and uplift their communities. By reconnecting with their roots and giving back, young graduates can make a tangible difference in the lives of those around them. Whether it's volunteering at local shelters, mentoring at-risk youth, or supporting community initiatives, there are countless opportunities for young people to contribute positively to their communities. Moreover, by actively participating in community service and outreach programs, young graduates can develop essential skills such as leadership, empathy, and teamwork. These experiences not only benefit the community but also help individuals grow personally and professionally. Additionally, it fosters a sense of fulfillment and purpose that comes from making a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Furthermore, by engaging with their communities, young people can gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and issues faced by those around them. This insight is invaluable in fostering empathy and driving positive change. By actively listening to the needs of their communities, young graduates can become advocates for social justice and equality, working towards a more inclusive and prosperous future for all. In conclusion, it's essential for young graduates to recognize the importance of reconnecting with their communities and uplifting those in need. By actively engaging in community service and support initiatives, they can make a significant difference in the lives of others while also enriching their own personal and professional development. Together, we can build stronger, more resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

🌟 Introducing Our 2024 Board of Directors! 🌟 We are thrilled to introduce the passionate and dedicated individuals who make up our 2024 Board of Directors. Each member brings a wealth of experience, commitment, and vision to the SCWCC Foundation, united by a shared mission to empower women through education and support. Join us in welcoming and getting to know our remarkable board members. Natalie Gowen Moxie Tonic Marketing Board Member “I passionately believe women need a leg up in the workforce. Childcare costs, rigid work schedules and expectations make it difficult to balance family and career, not to mention the penalty for taking time off to raise children. All of these forces are working against women--which is why I'm thrilled to be working for causes here to support women! In joining the SCWCC Foundation board, I'm excited to keep pushing the foundation's mission forward as we raise scholarship funds. Working together as a board and involving an ever-growing community, we can facilitate the dreams of aspiring women who want to break through their personal barriers and get the education they need to pursue their careers. I know these challenges all too well -- I'd stepped out of the workforce for nearly a decade to raise my kids. Since I knew I'd jump back in just as soon as my kids were in school, I made sure to freelance and keep up on professional development. But when it came time to get a job, I couldn't even get an interview. I kept hearing that the resume gap was just too big and obstacle. Fast-forward five years, and I've managed to grow my freelance marketing work into a thriving digital agency with seven full-time employees and many more contractors. This was all made possible by some hard work, but also because a reliable income paid the bills while I tried my hand at entrepreneurship. That was my leg up, and I'm super grateful for it. The SCWCC scholarships are other women's leg up -- to reduce the stress of college tuition while they juggle the many other demands on their time. It's a privilege to join a board with this legacy, and I can't wait to continue it.” #MeetTheBoard #SCWCCFoundation #WomenEmpowerment #Leadership #EducationMatters #BoardOfDirectors #EmpowerWomen #CommunityLeaders #WomenInLeadership #SupportEducation #FutureLeaders #Inspiration #MakingADifference

32 Pages has been our love letter to families in Singapore. A homage to the unpaid, underpaid and under-appreciated emotional work that have overwhelmingly fallen on mothers, caregivers and teachers. Holding space. Modelling behavior. Managing one's emotions to be present for a child. These are skilled work that go unrecognized but are important in keeping our children engaged in learning. A lack of such support exists in less resourced families ((And I mean less resourced in more than monetary terms)). In the process of building support, we've realized that the children we heal aren't just the ones of age but those that lie within adult facilitators - their inner child(ren). Great learning facilitators are born from those who have the support and self-awareness to be present for others. My co-founder Tamara Tan Ann’s story perfectly encapsulates the crux of our work. Building 32 Pages together alongside Tamara Tan Ann and Cheryl Lee has been a healing journey as former-children, educators and leaders. Today, 32 Pages is a volunteer-led organization. And while I am happy we are getting recognized for our commitment, I wonder about the value we place on emotional labor. Can such emotional work really be made up for by volunteers? And will our aspirations for our children in Singapore amount to something bigger? ___ 💕 Thank you TODAY and the NVPC - Towards a City of Good team (Jingjie Lim , Samantha Yeo, Jessintha Lee) for advocating for our community's stories. 💕 32 Pages is a movement that stands on the shoulders of many past and present volunteers (notable ones being - Yee Hwee (Tee), Varun Kohli, Xinyi Yang, Sherman Tham, Alefiya Malubhoy, Chan Xi Levona,Joel Koh Caleb Clayton). Thank you for crossing paths. 💕 Thank you to ReadAble (Jonathan Muk, Amanda Chong, Kelly Lim) and Reading Roots (Angeline Lim) for your help - for nudging us towards a community-first approach - when we started out. Your work has taught us that creating great childhood memories matters more than the stories we read. #groundupinitiatives #volunteerism #socialemotionallearning
What began as a volunteering stint blossomed into a programme that reshaped Tamara Tan Ann's own narrative about her childhood. In this edition of Community Heroes, the 24-year-old recounts her journey with 32 Pages, an initiative that aims to provide empathetic spaces for children to learn. #communitywork

Access to quality education is not just a personal privilege; it's a collective responsibility. While some of us have had the opportunity to learn and grow through education, millions of children and adults around the world are still left behind. Financial limitations, lack of infrastructure, and societal barriers continue to hold them back from achieving their potential. But here’s the truth, it doesn’t have to stay this way. Every single one of us can play a part in changing the narrative. Whether through mentoring, supporting educational initiatives, volunteering, or even advocating for policies that make education more accessible, we all have something to contribute. Education is the key that unlocks countless doors economic opportunity, innovation, social justice, and community development. If we truly believe in a brighter future, then we must invest in education for all, ensuring that no one is left behind. Let’s stand together, let’s advocate, and let’s act. Because when education is accessible to everyone, society as a whole rises. #EducationForAll #EqualOpportunities #BreakingBarriers #InvestInTheFuture #EmpowerThroughEducation #CollectiveResponsibility #EducationMatters #EducationIsPower #millenniumcampusnetwork #millenniumcampusfellowship #millenniumfellowship #millennium #linkedin

Providing nonprofit capacity-building including grants management and program development for health/human services, economic development and senior services organizations.
I am deeply honored to be recognized by Social Work Today, a national newsmagazine, in their article highlighting social workers who have founded their own nonprofits. This recognition underscores the importance of our mission at the Alliance for Nonprofits. Before founding the Alliance for Nonprofits, we diligently sought advice from a broad spectrum of community leaders, public sector administrators, funding sources, and nonprofit managers. Our goal was to identify the unmet needs and service gaps within our community. Through this comprehensive consultation, it became evident that while numerous organizations were striving to serve the community, they were often constrained by limited resources that hindered their efficiency and capacity. In response, we established the Alliance for Nonprofits to focus on capacity-building for nonprofit organizations. Our services are designed to help nonprofits: Meet their mission: We provide strategic support to help organizations align their activities with their core mission. Strengthen organizational structure: Our team works with nonprofits to enhance their governance, management practices, and operational frameworks. Increase funding streams: We assist in identifying and securing diverse funding sources, ensuring financial stability and growth. Enhance outcomes: By improving service delivery and impact measurement, we help organizations achieve better results for the communities they serve. We collaborate with health and human service organizations, community economic development agencies, aging services, and other community-based organizations, helping them to reach their full potential. Our work is especially critical for under-funded and under-staffed organizations, as we provide the support they need to offer a hand-up to communities in need. By strengthening these nonprofits, the Alliance for Nonprofits makes a positive, lasting impact on local communities and their residents. We are committed to fostering a vibrant, effective nonprofit sector that contributes to the well-being and resilience of our community. #nonprofitleaders, #socialworkers, #nonprofit, https://lnkd.in/evnKAeyP
