Collaboration between companies and the government is going to be critical to solve the challenges we face reducing emissions whilst providing affordable and realiable energy. Policy certainty is one key element required. Conversations like these with The Low Carbon Contracts Company and ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions enables the sharing of perspectives to help find the collaborative solutions required to potentially bring investment to the UK.

As with most all improvements, its the additive of base hits, to use a baseball metaphor, that wins the game, not the rare grand slams. The journey to GHG emissions reduction is the on-going base hits. Part of this journey can be accomplished by use of disruptive technologies such as Alternative Environmental Technology OXYtreating. It replaces the more expensive, the more hazardous and the higher emissions hydrotreating (hydrodesulfurization) technology that is used extensively in oil refineries.

Energy companies will continue to be among the most critical players well into the future for enabling us to meet global net zero goals. Ironically it’s the fossil fuel folks who are making some of the most aggressive moves into energy transition materials supply chains and carbon capture that will help keep those goals in reach. Taking action on our goal to develop and deploy lower-emission energy solutions. We are excited to share, last month, we started production of #Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at the Esso Port-Jérôme-Gravenchon refinery through co-processing. This new technology pathway was made possible through exceptional collaboration between the ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering team and the local facilities team on the ground in Gravenchon. We are using our existing infrastructure, experience in traditional refining and leadership in technology to produce lower-emission fuels. This new production step is part of ExxonMobil’s goal to supply approximately 40,000 barrels per day of lower-emission fuel by 2025, and 200,000 barrels per day by 2030.
