NEW Project ❗   📢 A few weeks ago, our colleagues Santiago Gómez Cuervo and Luz P. Herrero Castilla traveled to 📍 Paris to attend the kick off meeting of a new project which #aimenct is part of ➡ AWARD_HEU.   AWARD_HEU is a three-year #HorizonEurope project, funded by #EuropeanUnion 🌎, that brings together 14 beneficiaries and 2 affilliated entities across 7 European #countries.   👉 This initiative aims to provide evidence-based solutions for affordable, acceptable and reliable alternative #water resources (#AWRs) in water supply strategic planning and implementation adressing the impact of #globalchanges. 🌐💦   🔴 Within AWARD_HEU, #aimenct will be in charge of recovering and treating runoff #water from the 📍 Sionlla #industrial estate, in Santiago de Compostela, as well as providing it with adequate quality to be reused in different processes.   🔎 To reach this objective, AIMEN will work on optimizing the treatment of this water with #wetlands built in a demonstrator located in the industrial estate. IKC3 recently held a Skills and Knowledge Sharing for Sustainability event with Mullingar Chamber of Commerce. Developing sustainability skills and sharing approaches were key themes at the Mullingar Chamber session this week. ‘There is a recognition that we all need to upskill and learn from each other to enable the transition to net zero,’ says Thomas Flynn of Mullingar Chamber. ‘Here in Mullingar, we have excellent examples from local business and key projects we can build upon, and looking ahead we will be identifying and prioritising other themes and knowledge sharing activities.’ ‘Thank you to David Williamson from IKC3 in highlighting the skills required for a sustainable future and providing a useful horizon scan of areas that business, large and small, need to planning for. 🌴 Contributing Towards Sustainable Education! 🌴 The 2023 SEAMEO-Japan ESD Award, hosted by SEAMEO Secretariat, was an #enthralling competition in which international schools around the world showcased their efforts towards maintaining a #sustainable learning environment. 🏞️ Along with my partner, Jennifer, we showcased Tanarata International Schools' prowess in #educating students of all years about sustainability, as well as providing means to reduce their #carbon footprint on the planet. This project was titled "Green Synergy". Highlights include showcasing #aquaponic farms, #solar panels, and an exclusive interview with the founder of the school regarding the unique design of the campus. ☀️ Out of a staggering total of 115 schools who have participated globally, Tanarata International Schools was shortlisted for the prize - along with 8 others. 🤝 Within the framework of the EU-funded DeepProject's 2nd study visit, which was organized this week in Barcelona by MedWaves, we had the honor of receiving a delegation from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change of Türkiye, along with the DEEP Project Managers at the Agència de Residus de Catalunya's premises yesterday. 💡 MedWaves, as a Consortium Partner in this 36-month long project, provides 'Technical Assistance for the Assessment of Turkey's Potential in Transitioning to a Circular Economy'. This aligns with the primary mission of our center, which is to offer capacity-building support to the Contracting Parties of the #BarcelonaConvention. 🔄 Throughout this week, the MedWaves team engaged in this project has arranged meetings not only with public authorities but also with non-governmental organizations such as Roba Amiga and the Fundació Trinijove, as well as public-private stakeholders like Vallès Circular.
