Expanish Spanish Schools’ Post

We were pleased to participate in an online “best practices” conference organized last week by the Instituto Cervantes Accreditation Service for Centres (SACIC). Expanish Academic Director Paula Cerdeira Núñez represented Expanish at the conference, which aims to promote a culture of continuous improvement by enabling officially accredited language centres to share their experiences and insights. Paula shared with more than 100 participants from all over the world Expanish’s experience of gaining official accreditation for our language school in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This included talking about the challenges involved in adapting a high quality academic program to the distinct cultural characteristics and linguistic variations of a South American country. Last week we also held an internal online training day for Expanish teachers at all of our of Spanish schools, exploring interesting concepts such as gamification, experiential learning and the use of artificial intelligence in our Spanish lessons (see below). These sessions are a great way to continue developing and enhancing the student experience across all Expanish centres. We're grateful to count on such a talented and committed academic team! 💪

After five weeks we recently said “hasta luego” to an amazing group of students who completed a 'Language of Business and Technology' program with Expanish Buenos Aires, organized in conjunction with the Georgia Institute of Technology. The “Culture, Democracy, and Technology in the Southern Cone” program explored how culture, media, and technology have assumed a leading role in documenting, challenging, and opposing anti-democratic forces, while also celebrating the region's most vibrant cultural traditions. Highlights of the program included a meeting with Roberto García Moritan, Minister for Economic Development in the city of Buenos Aires, and participating in the Emprelatam Connect Day event. An overnight trip to the stunning Iguazú Falls was also memorable. Thanks to Dr. Paul Alonso for his contributions and creating interest in Argentina as a top study abroad destination. And of course thanks to all our Expanish coordinators for making this an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. Some of the students will now be continuing their studies in Madrid and we hope they have an amazing time! ¡Suerte!

Expanish participated in the #NAFSA2024 Annual Conference last week in New Orleans, Louisiana. We were really happy to meet with partners from all over the world, including the amazing staff from the University of California Education Abroad Program team (pictured below), as we had a lot of exciting things to discuss and celebrate.
