#ECAPS' 1 N high performance green propulsion #thruster is the world's most successful green propellant thruster, with more than 130x units in orbit and another >150x units awaiting launch. The thruster enables apogee and reaction control maneuvering as well as proximity operations for spacecraft performing everything from debris removal missions to earth observation. It operates on the low-toxic monopropellant #LMP-103S which offers 1.3x the density-impulse of #hydrazine, and up to 75% cheaper spacecraft loading campaigns, reducing the total life-cycle cost of the mission. The propellant is long-term stable (>15 years) and enables "fuel at the factory" for rapid response spacecraft and easy launch vehicle integration. #GreenPropulsion #Thrusters #Rockets #Propulsion

May 2024 Deal of the Month | Orbit Fab Imagine buying a car with a full tank of gas but only being able to drive it until the fuel runs out. Orbit Fab spearheads technologies for on-orbit refueling services, enabling extended in-space missions and paving the way for a space economy—think gas stations in space. By addressing the "space mobility" challenge, they bolster the space economy, creating a market for fuel futures in space. Their first product, already developed, is the RAFTI (Rapidly Attachable Fluid Transfer Interface). It is a standardized fueling port that attaches to government and commercial spacecraft for missions in geosynchronous (GEO) and low-Earth (LEO) orbits. This component for new satellites will simplify refueling and offer significant cost reductions for future missions. #space #satellites #innovation #investmentopportunity #wealthingvcclub

Two weeks have now passed since the launch of Ovzon 3, and we are pleased to report that all is well with our satellite. Spacecraft separation from the second stage of the Falcon 9 rocket was followed by flawless deployments of both solar arrays and thrusters. Signal from the satellite was established as planned, which means we track the health of the satellite in real-time. The all-electric propulsion system is working as designed and Ovzon 3 is making its way towards geostationary orbit. The first week was dedicated to raising perigee above 1200 km altitude where atmospheric drag is not an issue. During the second week the Ovzon 3 reached above 1200km, and preliminary satellite platform In-Orbit-Test was successfully completed. It is now on track towards its GEO orbit position of 59.7E which it is planned to reach during the second quarter of this year. How big is a satellite?🛰 It’s a question we’re often asked. And while there’s a large range, people are often surprised to know that many satellites are as small as a loaf of bread 🍞 These are known as Cubesats These very small sats need very small engines to move them around in space 🌌 Enter the CubeDrive ✨ A small but mighty rocket engine designed specifically for CubeSats, and Dawn’s first piece of hardware launched to orbit (all the way back in 2020) 🛰 Learn more about CubeDrives here: https://lnkd.in/gTdU3J5e

The latest failures of ViaSat-3's deployable reflector and a SADA onboard Astranis's satellite is yet another example of severe economic consequence of losing a single-point-of-failure mechanism's capabilities. These recent cases are on the headlines due to the intended impact of the missions. However tens, if not hundreds, of smallsat missions have been lost to date due to actuator malfunction/failure. This status quo can be broken. Revolv Space's SARA employs a fail-safe mechanism that guarantees a fallback performance level of the power generation system of the spacecraft. Check out our page revolvspace.com/product to learn more. Spacecraft mechanisms should bring benefits, not end missions. #mechanisms #reliability #smallsat #smallsat2023 #wegivesatellitessuperpowers

#NASA's On-orbit Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing 1 (OSAM-1) is a robotic spacecraft with the capabilities, tools, technologies and techniques needed to extend the satellites lifespans including those equipment not initially intended for servicing. It is scheduled to launch in 2026. The benefits of the OSAM-1 are many. It will offer satellite operators enhanced method for efficient fleet management and increase the value of the initial investment and it will also solve some of the current looming problem of the orbital debris. The OSAM-1 robotic servicer must prove its ability to effectively capture, refuel, and reposition a satellite in orbit. Beyond refueling, OSAM-1 will demonstrate assembly and manufacturing capabilities by assembling a communications antenna and manufacturing a beam. This mission marks as a significant move towards a more sustainable and effective approach to satellite management in space. Excited to see this Mission! #engineering #sustainability #aerospace #OSAM-1 #technology #controlsystems Source: https://lnkd.in/e2QiNFEk
