❄️ Improve the insulation of your fridge in four hours with some Styrofoam, strips of wood, double-sided tape and magnets. That is the idea behind the project ‘Hack your Fridge’. #TUDelftAlumni Ludo de Goeje and Alex Klootwijk, founders of Rotterdam-based company Slijpstof, were among the winners of Gideon’s Best Idea last year, a movement for sustainability in construction, with this idea. ♻️ "A refrigerator is one of the few products where it is more environmentally friendly to buy a new product than to use the old one for longer”, says Ludo.  Adding an extra layer of Styrofoam to older fridges enhances insulation, resulting in up to 15% less energy consumption and €20 annual savings. *Chetwoods Materials Monday* Today, we are sharing IMPACT ACOUSTIC® and their products. ARCHISONIC is a ‘high-performance sustainable acoustic absorber’ which is made from 100% upcycled plastic pottles, with a minimum of 60% post-consumer waste. The product is Cradle to Cradle certified and LEED accredited. It is available in multiple colours, and can be used as ceiling baffles, ceiling panels, wall panels, room dividers, and desk dividers. In addition, Impact Acoustic produces ARCHISONIC Cotton – a ‘fully circular solution’ made from waste products. Cellulose, derived from cotton linters, is the main material ingredient. These cotton linters are a by-product of the cotton industry, and would otherwise be discarded. ARCHISONIC Cotton is available in 24 colours, which are created without the use of chemical dyes or mordants. Impact Acoustic say that the acoustic absorbers can be returned to the production process, and fully recycled. In 1970, Gary Anderson, then a 23-year-old architecture student at the University of Southern California, designed the iconic recycling logo as part of a contest organized by the Container Corporation of America. This logo, symbolizing the recycling process with its three chasing arrows, quickly became a global symbol of environmental consciousness. Anderson’s design not only marked a significant moment in the environmental movement but also demonstrated the power of simple, clear graphic design to convey a universal message.
